I was using some so called 'potting soil' from a farm methane project in Shelburne VT but it was absolutely the WORST...no water retention capability so all the water went right through and came out coffee brown. If you let the plants dry out at all the soil turned to brittle crunchy crap. Miracle grow definitely is worth the extra cost. I am on my third bag already as I have had to repot every plant in the house to get rid of the crappy stuff. I love it's ability to hold moisture . I agree with another reviewer that i'm not gonna eat the damned spider plants that I enjoy propagating in the winter so it does not have to be super organic for me.I've tried to do my bit for the environment but it turned out costing me a ton of wasted money. Since using Miracle Grow, I too have had a problem with these little black flies all over the house. They get right in your face anfd are very hard to kill so i have had to hang fly papers which are now festooned with little black bugs.I did not put excellent for this reason.

I frequently use Scotts Miracle Grow Potting Soil for my potted plants. I like the feel of this soil; it feels good in my hands. I have never found any twigs, pieces of plastic or other rubbish in the soil, like I have with other brands. It is well-sifted. It also crumbles nicely. This is especially appreciated when I am transplanting tiny fragile plants. The first time I used this soil I noticed gnats. Lots and lots of gnats. I searched on the internet and saw that it was a common problem. One reviewer recommended putting the soil in the oven at 350 degrees F. for an hour. I tried it and the gnats (and presumably any larvae) were gone. I now do this with every bag of potting soil I buy. It's not really a problem for me, but it might be for some. Sure beats having gnats flying all around. Once I fix the gnat problem, my container plants seem to thrive with this potting soil. I do fertilize and I don't overwater. I've had great luck with huge root growth using this potting soil.

This is great soil for container gardening. Because it is light and airy it works well to wick water up from an Earth box (bottom watering) container. It it is nice that it has fertilizer in it too. This certainly helps our plants grow nice and big and healthy, quite quickly. My plants definitely grow better when using good potting mix in a bottom watering container. Though this dirt is more expensive then some others,it is certainly well worth the expense as the results are far better than using regular dirt. This soil can often be bought on sale in the spring. That is a good time to stock up, and even put away some for next year's gardening adventures. I would recommend this soil to a friend who wanted to have a successful garden.

Last year, we planted our first "big" garden. Since we hadn't ever done it before, we chose a potting mix that we had heard about from other gardeners and knew had a good reputation! So, we chose Scotts Miracle Grow Potting Mix. We mixed it with our soil and planted tons of tomato plants and okra. We had the largest, tallest tomato plants that I have ever seen. We had huge delicious tomatoes and too many okras to keep up with it all. It certainly made a difference in our garden. We feel that we got a whole lot higher yeild than we would have if we hand not use the Scotts Miracle Grow Potting Mix. I also used it in my potten plants and had a huge yield of tomatoes in my potted plants as well. Also, our grape vines grew tall and strong after adding the potting mix to them. I found that this potting mix is the best and would higly recommend it to my family and friends.

I have used this product time after time and you can't go wrong ! I have tried some off brands with horrible results. So I came back to my tried and true ! Great for starter plants and have sowed some seeds directly into this potting soil and I do not have to worry about fertilizing for a while ! Works great and my plants are beautiful ! Might cost a bit more than some other brands but well worth the little extra cost !

Miracle-gro potting soil is the most amazing dirt that you will ever use for plants and flowers. It is lightweight and doesn't clump together in the bag. Also, it has miracle-gro plant food already infused in it so that your flowers grow incredibly well and bloom all season long. I have used this soil for both indoor and outdoor plants with great results. The only plant that I wouldn't recommend it for is cactus because they require a faster draining soil with a little sand mixed in. But for annuals and other flowering plants outdoors you can't find a better potting soil to use. I highly recommend this potting soil to anyone who likes to garden and grow houseplants. The only disadvantage that I could see is that it is a little on the expensive side but really it isn't that bad when you consider that you don't have to purchase seperate fertilzer when you use this soil because it is already included in teh product.

Well,when it comes to started my seeds or transplants,I do not count only on nature,I also have Scotts miracle grow give me a helping hand,and when its used,you never have to worry,you know you are going to get what you planted or started,and you are going to get it about a third to one half the time quicker! So if you are serious about planting,wether it be veggies,flowers,fruits or what have you,do yourself,and your landscape a huge favor,and pick up some of Scotts Miracle grow potting mix,works great starting seeds,works great on transplants,and when you move your seedlings into the garden,take all that extra potting mix left over,and toss it around your other landscaping,those plants,shrubs and trees will appreciate your effort,and put on a nice show for you during their growing season!!!

I have used Scott's Miracle Grow plant food for years, but only recently tried Scotts Miracle Grow Potting Soil. I had a indoor plant that needed be seperated and re-potted. I had some regular potting soil, but not enough to use for the two new pots. I decided to try Scotts Miracle Grow Potting Soil. I used the regular potting soil in one pot, and the Miracle Grow Potting Soil in the other (and marked which one was which). I seperated my plant into two plants and put one in each pot. I placed them in the same spot, and watered them equlally. Within four weeks, one plant was about an inch taller than the other, had greener leaves, and had more new growth shoots. Of course it was the one planted in the Scotts Miracle Grow Potting Soil. I am sold on Scotts Miracle Grow Potting Soil! There is an incremental difference in price between it and a regular potting soil - but the results more than make the extra cost worth it. I never plant my potted plants in anything but Scotts Miracle Grow Potting Soil.

I tried Scott's Premium Potting Soil this past year. I needed to repot all of my house plants and also planted a few new plants. This product is good for indoor and outdoor plants. I mainly use it indoors, but have also used it to mix in with some of the soil that is in the garden. It has worked very well in the garden also. The soil holds the moisture well. Most of my house plants only need to be watered once a week. My plants that do not need much water, I only water about every two weeks. This product has made growing house plants much easier and much less work. The soil comes in an easy open resealable bag. The bag has 8 quarts of soil in it. It is easy to carry and to pour the soil from the bag. There was no mess. One nice feature is the continuous feeding for up to 4 full months. With the fertilizer included, you do not need to worry about feeding your plants for 4 months. That is a great ingredient. The description says that it is a specially blended formula with sphagnum peat and perlite. The ingredients says that the product is regionally formulated from organic materials. I would recommend Scott's Premium Potting Soil to anyone.
