After many seasons of borrowing a lawn spreader from a friend across town, I purchased a Scotts AccuGreen 3000 to keep at my house. It is a handy device. You fill the hopper with fertilzer or other substance, set the dial for distribution and push. It is easy to fill, easy to distribute, easy to push. No complaints from me. I am not sure that we need to own this item. I usually use 'weed and feed' on the lawn twice a year. The spreader sits idly in the garage for the rest of the year taking up valuable space. If it were more convenient, I would love to share this item with a neighbor. I have also used the hand held spreaders and this works much better than that type. This model seems sturdy and should last for many years to come. The price was very reasonable. I think these are available at most hardware and big box home improvement stores. The Scotts brand works well, I am not sure if other brands are good too.
