Scotch FUR Fighter hair remover —

My cat loves to perch on the top of the sofa so she can spread out and look out of the window. This means that not only am I constantly cleaning the sofa, I'm also constantly cleaning cat fur off of the draperies. Hauling out the vacuum is bothersome and lint rollers do the job but are tedious. When I saw the Scotch Fur Fighter Kit (one handle with 5 sheets) I immediately pounced on the product.

According to the the product packaging, Scotch Fur Fighter promises to:

  • Remove embedded pet hair from upholstery
  • Pick up hair that vacuum cleaners leave behind
  • Fast and easy - less hassle than a vacuum
  • Dispose of dander that may cause allergic reactions

According to my experience, Scotch Fur Fighter

  • Removed some of the embedded pet hair at first, but then quickly only managed to spread it around. At one point, I was worried that I was making the fur creep even deeper into the drapery fibers. It worked much better on the sofa than it did on the curtains. Perhaps the degree of success with this product depends on the type of fabric.

  • Again, I would say that it initially picked up some of the hair left behind by my regular vacuum when used on the sofa, but not at all on the drapes. In fact, I pulled out my lint roller to finish off the pet fur that the Scotch Fur Fighter left behind.

  • Fast and easy? Certainly much faster and easier than the vacuum, but not more so than a traditional lint roller or lint brush.

  • I assume that if it disposes of cat hair, then it automatically disposes of dander. I don't have any way to test that claim in a real-life situation

Final Thoughts

I'm not excited by the Scotch Fur Fighter, but it does have its good points. My best advice would be to try it out before you buy it. It does seem to work on some fabric types better than others, so you may have a better experience than I had. As it stands now, I'll use the Scotch Fur Fighter on my couch and attack the drapes with my lint roller.
