We have a stainless steel refrigerator, oven/range, dishwasher and a built in microwave oven, as well as a countertop microwave oven.  Having all that stainless in the kitchen, I was looking for an easy and good way to clean the appliances, remove fingerprints and stains, and add a nice shine.

I purchased the new Scotch Brite Stainlesss Steel Cleaner, which consists of a plastic handle and refillable premoistened stainless steel pads.  You attach the pads to the handle (similar to how the Swiffer products work), and then go about your cleaning.  Since the product is manufactured by 3M, I was hoping for good results.

I am not impressed with this product.  It is okay for going over the front of the refrigerator, but for the most part, I had to remove the pad and just do the cleaning without the handle on the stove, dishwasher and microwave.  It is too large to effectively work on the smaller appliances.

They advertise it as follows:  "The Stainless Steel Cleaner is a simple and effective all-in-one solution to keep stainless steel surfaces looking like new.  The Starter Kit (which is what I purchased) contains disposable, pre-moistened pads and an ergonomically designed handle to deliver a streak free surface.  Works on a large range of appliances.  Removes and resists fingerprints.  Unique handle provides a more thorough, even clean, which is difficult to achieve by hand applied products.  Scratch free pad will not harm appliances."

Personally, I prefer the Stainless steel spray cleaner I purchased from Home Depot in the past,  You just spray it on and wipe it off with a clean cloth or paper towel.  Lasts a long time and works really well.

The starter unit costs about $8.00 and has about 6 pads in it.  I have not checked out the price on the refill pads.

I would not recommend this product to anyone looking for a good stainless steel cleaner.  There are other products out there that do a much better job, are easier to use and are less expensive.

I never tried the pads but I use the spray cleaner on my grill and it works very well. Sorry you had a bad time with that handle.
