Scion xB - 2008 Review Summary

The 2008 Scion xB has several of our reviewers sporting big smiles, saying that the 2008 Toyota Scion is “a great car for the money” and “I do believe I made the best purchase of my adult life”. The Scion xB 2008 is also reported to be a blast to drive around town. The ’08 Scion xB offers comfort, a smooth ride, lots of interior room with a fold over seat and good gasoline mileage. What more could one want? One reviewer was unhappy with the redesign of the 2008 Scion xB saying it is larger, heavier and totally “unfun” now. Compare the Scion xB to the 2008 Ford Edge for another perspective.

Want a versatile car for under 20K?
I'll tell you up front, I like Toyotas.  We've had a Corolla for 5 years, and another before that, and try to rent Camrys on vacation.  They're both comfortable cars, fun to drive, and the Corolla has saved us a pile of money in gas expense.  So when our business's...

I love smart cars. That's why I detest the redesigned Scion xB for 2008. Toyota took a WONDERFUL little hatchback with attitude, honest economy, and down to earth features, and they went and made it into a fat, bloated, UNfun car for a market that doesn't really care.

Old xB = COOL. New xB = UNcool to...

I TRADED IN A HUGE FORD MINIVAN FOR THE NEWLY UPDATED 2008 SCION XB.  I WAS LOOKING FOR GOOD MILEAGE, A REASONABLE PRICE, AND ACCOMODATION FOR A 6 FOOT DRIVER!  I FOUND ALL THIS AND MORE.  THE NEW BODY STYLE IS ROUNDER, CUTER THAN THE PREVIOUS SO IT'S A FUN LOOK.  THE NEW ENGINE, THE SAME AS IN A TOYOTA CAMRY, GETS AN AVERAGE OF 28 MPG IN THE CITY.  IT HANDLES WELL, HAS SUPERB VISIBILITY, AND HOLDS A TON OF CARGO WITH SPLIT REAR FOLDING SEATS.  I CAN EVEN SIT IN THE BACK SEAT WITH PLENTY OF LEG ROOM.  IN 2 YEARS THE ONLY MONEY I'VE SPENT ON THIS CAR IS FOR GAS.  THE ONLY CON ABOUT THIS...

I traded my o4 xb for this gem. overall I lik my 08 xb but the mileage is lower than the 04 model. I knew that the bigger engine would use more gas, but I did not know the price of gas was going to up go up so high and so fast. So I had a little buyers remorse after that. so its a great car and over all I like it better than the 04 xb, I miss my 04 xb because that was an awsome car too.
the 08 xb is a lot of bang for the buck and I get 28 to 32 mpg w/ it. I like everything about it but the road noise. the sound proofing of the cabin area is poor and I have to put the volume half way up to hear...

After researchig the other vehicles (Element, Xterra, HHR), I do believe I made the best purchase of my adult life. The speed, space, price and comfort is awesome. I am 6' 5" and 340 lbs, and the car is so comfortable for me and my family. The mileage is 24 mpg on the street and 28 on the HWY. The speed is smoove and quick, no jerking in the transition of the gears. The aerodynamics on the 2008 is alot better than previous years. The 2nd row is so roomy, I fit back there with ease. I highly recommend this car.

In one word "wow"  I have had so much fun driving this car for the past 7 months.  I love it, my kids love it, and my wife thinks it's ugly.  That has to be my favorite thing about the car.  (NO- not my wife hating it) There is no inbetween, you either love it or hate it.  I love it and will drive it until the wheels fall off.

My Scion xB is great for daily driving, grocery shopping, and roomy enough for my English Mastiff to go along. The headroom is incredible and the fold down seats make adding/configuring space a breeze. Economical for long trips, but the best part is how it maneuvers in traffic and the ease of parking.

My husband bought this car a few months ago and we are truly loving it.  We got one of the special edition cars--the options that came with it for a fairly inexpensive price tag made it irresistable!  It drives and handles very good!
