The Schwinn Airdyne gives a good workout, at whatever intensity you choose. The console has a timer which can count up or down, and shows the results of your ride in terms of calories burned and miles (Just push the button to switch from one to the other). I first used an Airdyne doing physical therapy for my back after being rearended in the car. There are 2 things I would change about it if I could. First, the whir of the fan wheel is quite loud, so if you want to ride while watching TV or listening to the radio, you really have to crank up the volume to hear your program over the bike noise. Also, I would design it so that the handle bars can be immobilized for someone who just wants to pedal. I have carpal tunnel & when it flairs up, gripping things like handle bars can be painful.
