When told she could pick one toy from the store, this is automatically where my daughter goes.  These animal figures are solid throughout and very durable.  I'm very impressed with the quality.  I think they are excellent toys that get back to the basics of encouraging pretend play and thinking up their own scenarios as opposed to having all toys that require a battery. 

 There is a wide assortment of animals from wildlife and farm animals to dogs, horses, birds, and dinosaurs.  They do also have figures of elves, knights, and mythical creatures, but so far, we have stuck with the animals.  I think that's part of the fun for her, is getting to pick out which one to add to the collection and build the different animal families. 

All that being said, they are a little pricey.  One baby animal costs in the $1.99 range and the adults around $3.99 to 4.99 each.  I did find them at Reallygreattoys.com for a discounted price for the same animals as in the store.  But, as stated before, there are of excellent quality and worth every penny.  We have had animal figures before (I don't remember the brands) that the legs have broken off, or gotten smashed.  And with these, even when our small dog (a Papillon) has gotten a hold of one and carried it off, there has been nothing more than a few indentations.  (We did catch her early.  They are not indestructible.) 

I do recommend them to all of our friends with kids and many times get them as presents.
