I've been playing guitar, mostly rock and metal for 20 + years. I've been in several bands, and toured the country before. As such, I've owned several guitars over the years. Everything from cheap, made-in-China guitars with plywood bodies, to expensive, top of the line American made guitars, and a custom made Fender, back in the day. Out of all the guitars I've owned, my Schecter CS-1 Elite is by and far my favorite.

It's a beautifully crafted instrument, offering all the standard things most guitars come with these days including 24 Jumbo frets, a beautiful rosewood fretboard with no inlays, except at the 12th fret, mahogany body and neck for a nice, 'chunky' tone, a pair of seymour duncan designed humbuckers, grover tuners, a Tonepros tuneomatic bridge, 3 way toggle switch and a set in neck. This is a Korean guitar, and as such, Korean made guitars are normally avoided by experienced musicians, as the craftsmanship of insturments made overseas is notoriously sub par when compared to American and Japanses made guitars. However, the higher end Schecter line shines above the rest. For it's price, this is an AMAZING guitar.

While the guitar is arguably a hybrid cross breed of a Les Paul and a Stratocaster and you obviously won't get a Les Paul type tone, this is a versitlie guitar and has tone to spare. Unlike most guitars under $1000, the pickups in this guitar are exact copies of Seyour Duncan's '59 and Jazz models and as such, sound simply great and don't need to be replaced, unless you're like me and prefer active pickups. The volume knob can be pulled out via toggle pot and switched to a single coil thanks to the coil tapping. The guitar stays in tune, no matter how many times you bend the notes on the three highest strings and thanks to the set in neck you can get sustain for days and the neck joint makes for easy finger access to the upper register.

As I stated before, I've used numerous guitars over the years and my Schecter has became my primary electric guitar. For paying only $600, I have yet to see another guitar that can touch my CS-1 Elite in quality of craftsmanship, and overall instrument quality. I would recommend this guitar to any serious player who doesn't want to spend a fortune for something they can get for under $1000.
