There's a graveyard in northern France where all the dead boys from D-Day are buried. The white crosses reach from one horizon to the other. I remember looking it over and thinking it was a forest of graves. But the rows were like this, dizzying, diagonal, perfectly straight, so after all it wasn't a forest but an orchard of graves. Nothing to do with nature, unless you count human nature.  - Barbara Kingsolver

A little over a decade ago - in July of 1998, to be exact - moviegoers all over the United States and other countries sat in darkened theaters in quiet, almost solemn expectation and...

What better movie to review on this day than Saving Private Ryan.  For this day, June 6, 2009 is the 65th anniversary of D-Day.  According to a Fox News story back on May 24, 2008, WW II Veterans are dying at the rate of 1,000 per day.  To quote a line, "But judging by the passing of the World War I veterans, we're predicting they will all be gone by 2020."  If you ever meet a WW II Vet, you should humbly say "Thank You!" and shake his or her hand.  After all...you're not speaking, reading or writing normally in German or Japanese are you?

In my opinion, Tom Hanks (Capt. John H. Miller) gives...

Saving Private Ryan questions the validity of command and obeyance, as well as sacrifice. Unfortunately, the plot is prolonged and unmotivated details are irritating. However, the first war scene inflenences many disciples, such as Feng Xiaogang's Assembly, albeit Feng's work investigates deeper meaning than Saving Private Ryan. I loved Saving Private Ryan.  I served in the military for only a short time, in the Air Force, but it does my heart good to see the continued sacrifice that so many men and women give to this country as they put their own lives on hold and protect us from the evil that lurks to hurt us.  May GOD be with us all...and May God Bless America!!!!

Saving privateRyan was a real sad movie of saving a kid who lost all of his brothers and the real tradegy of war. Many fell to tears in this epic rescue mission of a soldier fighting for his country, it was an eye opener for many who never felt the sorrow of a lost one from war. So if your looking for action adventure and drama all in one then pick up a copy of this movie at your nearest movie store of buy it for your self to see war through the eyes of a hero.

Every American should see this film, simply to understand what so many brave young men faced during that time of war, and to realize how heroic those men were.  The film itself tells a terrific story against the historic backdrop of a critical point in WW II.  By far the greatest war movie in recent times.

The storyline and acting make "Saving Private Ryan" a great movie, but the constant foul language detracts it to the point I won't watch it again or recommend it to anyone.
