Every American should see this film, simply to understand what so many brave young men faced during that time of war, and to realize how heroic those men were.  The film itself tells a terrific story against the historic backdrop of a critical point in WW II.  By far the greatest war movie in recent times.

Go read a few reviews by people who know the history of movies to get yourself grounded. Then a discussion would be meaningful. Until that time you know SPR is only AVERAGE you will never be up to speed.

Well, I have over 1,500 movie reviews posted on Epinions since the year 2000. I have also reviewed several good war movies on this site, much better quality than saving ryan which I only consider OK. You need to get out to more movies.

Wow. That is hard to believe that this is the greatest war movie of modern times. I can think of quite a few that are better.
