Santa Fe de Antioquia —

It's only about an hour and half drive from the hustle and bustle of big city life in Medellin Colombia, but the town of Santa Fe de Antioquia is a lightyear different in mood and speed. It's a typical slice of colonial flavor with cobblestone streets, historic old churches, a sprawling open air market, and a warm, semi-tropical climate that's warmer and more sedate than the cooler, high altitude city of Medellin.

Santa Fe de Antioquia caters to Medellin weekend crowds, coming as much for the warm weather as for the quaint, mellow mood of the town's quiet, narrow, cobblestone streets. There are historic courtyard restaurants and little boutique shops that make for a fun afternoon just prowling the streets.

Outside the town, along the main road coming in from Medellin, are a variety of estate hotels with resort class swimming pools and spas. Many people come to these hotels simply to swim, relax, and maybe work on some tan maintenance, never straying far from the manicured lawns of the hotels themselves.

Santa Fe de Antioquia is not an exciting place and there are no really spectacular attractions beyond the mellow, colonial town itself and its ideal warm weather. But that's enough reason in my book to make it well worth the visit!

Nice pics :) Thanks for sharing about a place I'll probably never go! I'm not big on leaving the country but I love to hear about it :)

That's a cool suspension bridge. Sounds like a nice place to just stroll around.
