Santa Ema wines from Chile.  Just recently discovered this summer right here in NJ.  Happen to be on sale at our Jackson Liquers store and was again for the holidays, so I bought the chardonnay and merlot for home and gifts. 

The year was 2005, 2004 and first used for a theatre wine tasting and people were delighted with the smooth fruity, mild taste of the chardonnay.  The Merlot was also mild for a red wine.  Not as dry or bitter as others I've tasted.  I am a fan of both red and white wines (not too sweet, not too dry), especially Syrahs, Merlot and now chardonnays again.  This would...

Merlot that will please many palates.

This Merlot is a great value.  It is complex and rich with hints of chocolate and coffee on this finish.,  It is medium to full bodied, but has great fruit forwardness.  You can serve it someone who typically likes Cabernets and they will enjoy! The wine hails from the Maipo region of Chile.  The 05 Reserve Merlot received 90 points from Wine Advocate.
