| Pros |
|
* Brilliant golden beer with thick frothy beige head
* Subdued malt nose has both caramel and toasty notes; just a whiff of herbal hop aroma
* Dryish malt character up front opens up across the palate exposing mild sweetness, toasty flavor and hop bitterness
* Tangy hop flavor and firm bitterness take over at finish
* Aftertaste hangs on for a while
* Medium bodied; good mouthfeel
Synhopsis:
I think SA Boston Lager has undergone some refinements over the years. Based on mental tasting notes made on previous tastings, this beer used to have some rough edges; I distinctly remember the bittering being more coarse and having a raw tea-like flavor. This version seems a more mellow and easy on the palate.
