The helicopter is gone. Our previous washer was so noisy it sounded like a helicopter everytime it ran. Our first and formost requirement for our next washer "quiet". I read the reviews about the Samsung and quickly decided this was the washer for us. We could not be happier, my youngest daugter's room, as well as ours is next to the laundry room. The laundry essentially sits in the center of our house. I can run a load of clothes in the morning or at night and it doesn't wake anyone up,even on the spin cycle.
I put the towels on the Silver Care cycle last night, took them out of the dryer and they smell clean without added softener or bleach.
The clothes are spun to the point that there is minimal water (on the normal/heavy cycles). Using the HE detergent is cost effective, my clothes are cleaner with a smaller amount of detergent. And do your kids wear their socks like slippers or shoes, not only my kids do but so do I. Haven't seen the socks look cleaner, of coarse it doesn't remove the very old worn in dirt but they are cleaner than they ever have been.
I don't require alot of buttons and gadgets, my husband wishes we would have gotten the bigger one but I don't think our dryer can handle it. The other day my middle daughter called me at work and asked me if she could wash all of her clothes together. What a load of clothes she washed, I joked with her and told her she didn't have to clean out all of the drawers to wash clothes. Needless to say if was a VERY large load of clothes, the washer handled it fine. It did however but our old dryer in a strain, we had to break it down to two loads.
We highly recommend the Samsung VRT washer. Even you can afford the one with the Silver Care, the next one down would probably be worth it. We didn't get the steam care, so I don't know whether I wish I had it or not.
