With so many new homes designed with the laundry area close to the living area, the amount of noise your washing machine makes can interfere with other activities in your home.  If your washing machines often makes more noise than you want, you'll be happy to know that Samsung has come to the rescue with a solution for the vibration and noise caused by unbalanced loads during the spin cycle.

Our townhome has the laundry area on the second floor, next to the family room.  Our old machine (which was supposed to be the quietest when we bought it 2 years ago) shook the house and prevented us from enjoying conversation or television.  This machine is intended for second floor installation.  I can do laundry while we enjoy our favorite shows or an end-of-the day chat.

Samsung's new Vibration Reduction Technology (VRT) washing machine is the quietest I've ever heard - even during the spin cycle!  Plus - it has extra-large capacity and uses a small amount of water, aout 1 gallon per load.  It includes Samsung's SilverCare technology which is a great option for removing odor-causing bacteria from colors and delicates in cold water without bleach. It helps keep garments looking their best by minimizing fading and the tattering effects of hot water.

The VRT Washing Machine is available in Tango Red, Onyx Blue, Stratus Gray and Neat White. It costs about $1300 but is worth every dollar.  You can buy matching pedestal drawers and dryers.

I would not hesitate to recommend this washer for anywhere in the house. I love how quiet it is - and it does a GREAT job of cleaning everything I've ever needed to wash. When someone is sick with a cold, I sanitize their sheets, towels, etc. and I truly believe it helps to prevent the spread of germs. I can sanitize with or without hot water because of the silvercare feature. I love it! I should be getting a commission! : )

would you recommend it for a basement?

I would hope that the washing machine uses more than 1 gallon of water for a load of clothes.
