I am not well versed in monitor technology, but I know someone who is. I bought this monitor several years ago for my home computer to replace a 15" Dell flat panel. The brightness and quality is among the best I have ever seen. I use the Dell UltraSharp 20" at work and the quality of this Samsung SyncMasterTM 173P (Silver) 17 inch LCD Monitor is better.
At the time I bought it for $600+ and now it is less than $250. Pretty amazing how the prices have come down.
It also looks great. The color, shape etc are very sharp.
