I bought this phone with the Verizon service.  It was an upgrade from the Razr V3c.I chose this phone because of similar characteristics to the Razr (body) in addition to the QWERTY keyboard. The U740 is a almost the same size as the Razr which is definitely a plus.  Other currently available phones are significantly thicker and can be cumbersome to carry in a pants pocket.  I've read reviews of the hinge being flimsy but have had no problems with it.  I've not noticed anything out of the ordinary even with opening with one hand.  It took some time to get the used to… read full review »

For the last two years I've been using a Motorola Razr VC3 and became very accustomed to using a keypad for typing out my text messages. However the phone has never held a charge for very long and I am queen of forgetting to charge it at night. So, this past weekend my husband decided to replace the battery thinking this would help. Verizon salesperson talked him into getting a new phone instead. He came home with my new Samsung SCH-u740. He read all the reviews and thought I'd love it. He was right. The way it opens either portrait mode (vertically) or landscape mode (horizontally),… read full review »

My daughter and I both have this phone and we love it!  My phone has gone through much abuse, many drops and still works great.  One bad feature, every-time the phone is dropped, the battery back comes off and the battery flies out.  Very thin, fits in a pocket easily.  Makes texting easy and fast.  Limited in-box space.  Nice bright screen, great colors.  Camera could use a little work.  When you want to view the picture, it doesn't show the picture in the full screen, only if you save to wall paper can you see the enlarged… read full review »

My only complaints are that the keypad backlight goes out during calls, including voicemail. That makes it hard to input your password at night! — Also, the phone doesn't have flexible memory: I could have 2G of memory on the SD card available but if my application memory is nearing  full, I can't download ringtones or get games. — This phone is awesome with its dual flip design and QWERTY keyboard. I love the size and feel of the buttons too. —… read full review »

I love this cell phone. I have had it for around a year now. I got it when my parents switched me onto their plan last year. I text my friends alot and I love the keyboard function. It justr makes sense. Although the keys could be alot bigger, you get acustomed to the small buttons. Everyone that sees this phone thinks it is so cool how it flips. I have not had one problem out of this phone. My mext cell phone will be the upgraded model as long as they come up with one. I am think what else could they add to this cool phone? It will be interesting to see. I give this cell phone and verizon… read full review »

The Samsung U740 is great for anyone who loves to send text messages, or would like to start sending them more often.  The phone opens both vertically, like most cells, but also sideways, to a computer-like keyboard.  Although the buttons are small, with a little practice, anyone can become a wiz at texting or dialing numbers.  This phone is especially great for teenagers who are addicted to sending text messages.  It is not nearly as expensive as other keyboard button phones and is a lot sleeker.  Overall, this phone would be great for anyone who is looking for a… read full review »

When I first read about this device I was skeptic. Excited, but skeptic. I sunk my money in, and have not been disappointed. — The phone employs Verizon Wireless's Unified Interface but adds a nice "skin" or theme to make it look flashy. The menu is presented logically. — The phone also has a memory slot that can hold up to a 2 gigabyte MicroSD card to store pictures and music that can be loaded using a pc and the music essentials kit. — The buttons are a tad on the small size, but the phone is amazingly thin and packs a full QWERTY keyboard. Overall this is an… read full review »

I've had this phone for a year now, and I couldn't be happier. I always thought text messaging back and forth to the kids was insane with number keys, so I got this one with the keyboard. Now even an old guy can TEXT. — So after I got it I bought a 2GB memory card online for $15.00.  Now I have a ton of music on it, and I even put some cartoon movies on it for my 2 year old to watch in the car or while we're waiting at a restaurant. — Over the years, I bet I have had 8 cellphones, and this is by far the biggest leap in cell phone technology.  Not only that, but the price… read full review »

I have had this phone for over a year now and am still happy with it. — When I was renewing my contract, I looked at lots of other phones. But when I saw that this one had the 2 way opening feature, I decided on it. — It does have very small buttons, but because my fingers are small, that is not a problem for me. But it would be for others with bigger hands and fingers. — I have the gold one and like the way it sparkles in the light - very cool! — Overall, very good product. In my experience, Samsung is a good name in cell phones and other electronics. —… read full review »

This phone (also known as the Samsung Alias) is extremely helpful to both the basic cell phone user, and those looking for a device to multitask on. It is a cheap phone, and can be substituted for a Smartphone, which can cost hundreds of dollars more, for very few extra features. This phone has a qwerty keyboard, allowing for fast, convienient texting. It also has great sound for its Mp3s, and has a micro SD slot, allowing for unlimited song and file storage. The battery lasts nearly two days, except when using the mp3. In short, this phone is a freat multipurpose tool.… read full review »

i love this phone... bought it because my girlfriend had one and instantly I was in love.  My favorite feature is the dual flip side, so I can text on the keyboard.  Even the V-Cast music feature is awesome - i can download my favorite music via online or with a jack that plugs into my phone and also into the computer!  I highly reccomend this phone to anyone who is a daily text'er.  The picture quality could be a little better - i usually email the pics to my email address (from my phone) and am able to better view my… read full review »

This phone is really sleek and nice.  The keyboard makes text messaging a breeze but the numbers on the phone are really small when you need to dial.  Voice dial is really easy to use and you can enable it with one button.  Great when using navigator - opens from side so it is easier to put on dashboard when navigating.  I was initially told that the battery life is short but this has not been my experience. … read full review »

I thought that, when I had a Razr, I wouldn't want any other phone after that. Then I saw this one. At first I didn't like the gold and wanted the black; not for me.  I love the gold because it matches me perfectly.  Not only that, the phone has what I always wanted: a covered querty pad.  It's not big and ackward.  I guess I'm like goldie locks and I found my perfect fit. (I know that was corny, but you get my… read full review »

I was excited to get a phone that took pictures, played MP3s, had querty and more. The most frusterateing part of this phone is if you are listening to music and you get a phone call or want to text. You have to stop the music and do what you want and then go through the hassle of getting back to the Vcast section. Many options arnt available in flip mode, but the phone has great service and I will be using it for a… read full review »
