Samsung SC-DX103 DVD Camcorder Review

We have had several DVD camcorders over the years and they just really don't seem to last no matter how much we spend so we have decided that we are only going to get in-expensive ones from now on. 

I saw the Samsung SC-DX103 680 Pixel DVD Camcorder on sale for just $164.00 the price was so low I was weary, but since we agreed to not spend a lot of money on DVD camcorders any more the price seemed good to me. 

The DVD featers a Schneider 34X Optical Zoom, and 2.7 inch LCD Viewfinder, a DVD/Flash or SD Card, digital image stabilation.  The SC-DX103 memory card slot offers you the option of using an SD card, or MMC as a flash memory card to record still images or movie clips.

One of the biggest selling points of the camera is a 720 x 480 pixel resolution will create crisp, crystal-clear images that are more lifelike than ever before.  I thought this would be wonderful and creat crisp and clear movies.  And the movies were crisp and clear while they were on the camera.  They got slighly less crisp on our lap top, and slightly fuzzy when playing the movies on the television.  We do have a large screen TV and it appears that the larger the format you play the movies on the worse the quality of the movies get.

The camara has a 1 year parts warranty, but only a a dismal 30 day warranty for labor.  If I had known that when I bought the camara I would not have bought it. 

The camera weighs about 3 pounds.  It fits in the hand very nicely.  Your viewing comes out to the side of the camera and you can see what you are filming very nicely and clearly.

So far i would say the Samsung SC-DX103 680 Pixel DVD Camcorder is OK.  There is nothing really extraordinary I can say about it.  I am disappointed that movies do not come out crisp on our main television.  But in the end you get what you paid for.  I guess for the price that I paid it works pretty well.  Since I went cheap I can't complain, but I am not going to brag about it either.  It is just OK.
