We purchased our RS2556BB 4 years ago. I believe the price was around $1500 all inclusive but can't remember exactly. This week we purchased a GE to replace it.
When I purchase a major appliance, I generally expect it to have a reasonably long life. As a child, our family moved in to our first home in 1968. When that home was sold 30 years later, the original appliances were still working fine. Today, we have all these wonderful appliances that have so many features - some even including Internet connectivity and can cost thousands of dollars. But, the bottom line is "does it do what it was made to do, and will it last"? For the Samsung RS2556 (and probably all the other RS25xx models) the answer is a resounding NO!
Sure, I can go in to all the specific details of our situation - but why? You can google and find many, many stories that mimic ours. Something fails, nobody can or wants to service it (only 2 Samsung repairmen in all of NJ), parts/repair is expensive, and suggestion from repairman was "in all honesty, you'll be better off just buying a new one".
We thought that $1500 price tag was expensive, yet it does have lots of storage and "features". However, if we're only going to have 4 years out of it, it might be worth $200 to me.
Suggestion - STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG APPLIANCES
