Once you get it going its good, but the startup is a pain

3

We waited long enough to get a blu-ray for all the bugs to work out and for them to have all the right features. This one had good reviews so we went for it. It has wifi, comes pre-set with popular apps and is a pretty easy setup, but it "forgets" my wifi connection constantly and about 2/3 of the time you have to reopen and close the door to reset it if you want to watch a disc because it freezes during the warnings/legal screens. I wouldn't mind if it was a cheapo player, but at this price and for a major brand I'm pretty disappointed. One upside though is that it's good at reading scratched up CDs that won't play on my computer or in a CD player. Performance Freezes and forgets my wifi connection but reads well and loads Netflix pretty fast/ consistently

It's not just me this time.

We were needing a new dvd player for the bedroom and decided to go with the Blu-Ray option since an HDTV was also on our list. We got this one at a great price on Black Friday, 2009. And, it works. Most of the time. However, the controls seem to be very sensitive, and it often gets "hung up" in some kind of playback loop when progressing through the previews or menu options on any dvd. I thought maybe I was just pressing buttons too fast, but it happens quite often, no matter how careful I am. And... get this: We bought another one for the tv downstairs. My husband wanted to get the same model so the wireless options would be the same. It's the same, alright! Same hang ups, same sensitivity. It doesn't happen every single time, but I would say 8 out of 10 times, it gets hung up in the start-up phase, and we have to turn it off and back on to reset. Very frustrating.

Not Pleased with Samsung BD-c6500 Blu-Ray Player

2

I bought this Blu-Ray player after doing much research. I bought it online during a Black Friday deal and was very happy about the price. Many reviews recommended this player and it got a high rating. Unfortunately I am not happy with this player. I bought it mainly for the built-in-wifi compabilty but the picture is often unclear. The start up is slow but once it get running the connection is fine. I have several dvd's that are not Blu-Ray and this is were my main complaint and unsatifaction comes from. Just about every other time I try to play a non-Blu-Ray dvd the player stalls and I have to eject the disc or shut down and restart the player. Very annoying! I am usually very happy with Samsung products but I wish we would have taken this one back.

Samsung Blu-ray 3D player is sweet!

After purchasing a Samsung 3D LED television, we needed to purchase a 3D Blu-ray player to go with it. We decided on this model and are so happy with the purchase! The control buttons on the front of the unit are touch sensitive and do not actually have to be pushed or depressed to be activated. It looks very sleak and has a great display. This model is easy enough for my 4 year old son to use without much assistance. The price on the Samsung was very reasonable, especially after spending so much on a new television! One of the only negative features of this unit is that there are currently very few 3D movies available for purchase. However, that is drawback of any 3D unit. That being said, this unit plays regular Blu-ray discs as well as regular DVDs, so it is very versatile.

Samsung BD-C6500 is easy to use!

5

This unit is extremely easy to use and provides an excellent picture.  I especially like the touch symbols on the front of the unit.  I have it on the bottom shelf of the glass tv stand and because the symbols light up they are easy to see and use.  I am very pleased with the picture quality.

very nice blu ray player. thin design so it fits in my bookcase well. nice matt black finish. pretty fast load time. very good picture and has rca jacks for 7.1 sound over an older av receiver. it really optimizes regular dvds so your older dvd's (which i have quite a collection) can still be played and will look even better! samsung has put out numerous firmware updates and you can do the over the internet so no need for ubs flashdrive. the updated format interfaces with netflix very well. now you can pick your selections for your queue from the player. wish it had more samsung aps where i could watch abc and fox sites over the player. i haven't done it, but you can access face book thru the player. it also has wireless LAN built-in. Add to that AllShare, which enables content to be seamlessly streamed between DLNA devices, allowing you to play files stored on your PC or even to use your telephone through your TV.

Great value, Great buy for this Samsung Blu-ray player

I am reviewing the Samsung BD-C6500 Blue-ray player. I have only had it for a little over a month, but it has definitely lived up to my expectations. I wasn't expecting much more than a basic blu-ray player, but quickly discovered that this blu-ray player did a lot more than just play blu-rays. It has a built-in Wi-Fi LAN so that you can easily connect it to the wireless internet in your home. This allows you to connect it to get cool things like Facebook, Netflix, and youtube displayed on your TV. It has a ton of great features, but the one I like the best is that it automatically synced to my Samsung HDTV. Now that they are both from Samsung I can use one remote for both of them. This may not seem like a very big deal to most people, but for me it is essential. I have a little on and the fewer remotes I have to have lying around the house, the better for sure! Long story short, this blu-ray player is a great value and a great buy for all of the great features.

Excellent Blu-Ray Player!!

I got this blu-ray player for Christmas this year after doing much research and comparing other players.  Compared to other players at the same price point of the Samsung BD-c6500, this player has a ton more built in features than players from LG or Sony. The Samsung BD-c6500 has built in wireless connectivity which others only have wireless capability where you have to buy a wireless adapter.  The Samsung BD-c6500 also is capable of using the samsung internet@tv which is where you can use Samsung's samsung tv applications such as Netflix and pandora which work very well on this player.  The player is very light but seems to be built pretty durable and sturdy.  The front touch sensative buttons work very well and I haven't had a problem with them not detecting my fingers.  If you have a Samsung tv the remotes work interchangably which is awesome.  The only negative that I have to say about this player is that you cannot add favorites for the web applications on the home screen for the player, you have to keep the recommended ones on the home screen.  I've contacted samsung about this and maybe they'll fix it in a future firmware update.

User friendly Blu-Ray

5

We are thrilled with our new blu-ray player.  My family has always purchased Samsung products because they seem to last the longest, and come with the very best features.  After searching through our options for blu-ray players, we decided on this Samsung model.  We love that it has the wireless adapter built in, so there was no extra equipment to purchase, and no extra step involved for setup.  We can stream internet straight to our TV and enjoy the movie theatre experience watching DVDs.   Netflix video quality is good, and it is easy to access our account to browse, select and deleted movies off of our queue right on our television.  The "apps" that you can add on like facebook, youtube, etc. make it a user friendly player with internet access. We also use the Droid app to operate the blu-ray player using our cell phones as remote controls!  That is such a neat feature! I don't know what we did without it!

Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-Ray Player wireless WiFi is terrible

2

I bought this Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-Ray player on black Friday because the price was so good I couldn't pass it up.  I wish I hadn't.  The Blu-Ray player itself is fine.  Blu-Ray discs play just fine and look great.  However one of the main reasons I bought this Blu-ray player is for the wireless Wi-Fi feature in order to stream Netflix and that disn't work so well.  The movies kept dropping due to a lost network signal and then finally could not connect to the internet at all.  I have not had any problems with any of the other devices I have hooked up to my network so I know the issue is not with my network or my router but rather with this Blu-ray player.  Needless to say, I returned this to the store the very next day and funny enough when I was there, I saw someone else returning this exact same Blu-ray player.  I would not recommend this DVD player, save your money and try one of the other ones on the market.
