Samsung - Rant Cell Phone Review

The Samsung Rant is very similar in design to the older, yet popular LG Rumor. The Rant has a large display atop a traditional keyboard and side slide QWERTY keyboard.It is a noticeably different feel in the hand though,solid, as the Rant weighs 0.8 ounces more and is a bit larger overall than its competitor, The LG Rumor. My daughters each have the LG Rumor and I can clearly notice and feel the differences. After some time using and configuring the logistics (ie; very important phone numbers, address book updates, ringtones, and wall photos) I am ready to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun, easy to use QWERTY keyboard with some suprisingly robust messaging options. The keyboard slides out to the left,  opposite of the LG Rumor, and features 4 rows of keys as opposed to the Rumor's 3 rows of keys. Sprint's one touch interface, with all its shortcuts and included apps, makes this phone much smarter than the average bear. I think that the combination of overall improved hardware and interface design, nice selection of messaging features, various multimedia apps like email,sprint TV, etc. make this little gem very user friendly and easily likeable.This isn't a complex corporate smartphone,its still very much a consumer level device. There's plenty of room for improvement, but Sprint's FREE or near FREE ($50 or less with varying rebates) contractual promotions make the Rant an affordable, yet functional and tech savvy choice. PROS: great phone, keyboard,pricing.Its perfect for text happy kids and adults who want email and text messaging without all the smartphone hoopla nad pricetag. Its an overall great improvement on its predecessor, and did I mention the included apps like GPS, stereo bluetooth,its available high speed data enabling connectivity, and a fairly decent 2.0 megapixel camera. CONS:basic multimedia options, not too compelling (but hey, its a cheap phone that doesn't reek of "this-is-my-free-phone-upgrade") it is actually durable and functional.The web brower can be somewhat sluggish and unreliable, obviosuly  depending on your location. Its definately not for the techy junkies who are in search of a robust online experience. The actual web browser will do in a pinch, but you're not really gonna be able to sit there on this phone and surf from site to site. That's a minor gripe though, as I didn't find too much that I didn't like about the Rant.
