I have forever been wanting a quality top of the line phone, and finally I found it!
The Samsing Rant is my favorite phone right now, I recently got this (Free with upgrade/new contract/and online discount!) and I use it nonstop.
I'm a big texter, so I needed a phone that is really good with texting. I didn't like when phones took forever to register the letters I pressed. This phone registers the letters immediately on both the keypad and QWERTY keyboard.
The QWERTY is very nice, has enough space in between the keys to prevent typos and is very easy to get used to.
The keypad on the front is nice as well, although the T9 on this phone can be a bit difficult, but I'm getting used to it.
I purchased this phone in the purple shade, and I was worried it would be a very tacky looking purple, but when I opened up the box it's a very nice not-to-deep almost-iridescent purple shade. I was planning to buy a cover for it, but I don't think I will anymore. The finish on the color isn't matte, but I haven't had any noticeable fingerprint marks on it.
The camera is really good quality in my opinion. It's 2.0mp and images come out pretty clear and the colors are pretty true (meaning nothing is really washed out or drab). I haven't used the camcorder much, but looking online at various videos taken by a Samsung Rant, the quality when you upload it to the internet isn't that great.
This phone features the Sprint One-Click feature where you can add bubbles or tiles to your homepage/carousel. While this feature is nice...you can't use any of the cool ones (Music/Horoscope/Weather/Email/etc) unless you want to be charged for kilo byte usage...and TRUST me...I looked at the bill yesterday and was pretty shocked. So it's best to be on a data plan where you have unlimited KB usage. (There's also a vision pack for sprint that would work very well with this feature).
Now for more on the appearance. This phone is not for those people who want those cutesy teeny tiny little phones that are practically microscopic. This is a somewhat clunky phone, with good weight on it. I personally like this because it feels sturdy and not fragile. The buttons are very sleek and give great feedback as I said earlier. With most Samsung phones, you hear those cute bubbly like noises when pressing the keys...but you can always turn that off if it's a nuisance. The keys on the QWERTY have a softer rubbery feel to them, which I think feels nice.
This phone does have a little hole for a cell phone charm, strap, or whatever you decide to loop around it.
The camera on the back has a little mirror next to it if you want to snap a picture of yourself.
Lastly, the Samsung Rant comes with an extra battery case. The extra one is black with a swirly design on it.
Other features of this phone are Sprint TV, GPS, access to Google/YouTube, and much much more.
It comes with a micro SD card that you can put into a regular SD card (which is included) to put into your computer, OR you can use the USB (also included) to hook it up from your phone to computer. There is also a headphone jack that I believe is 2mm.
Like most phones today, the Rant has Bluetooth capabilities, which is very nice for on the go people.
All in all, this phone is really great if you use the internet on your phone a lot, or use a lot of messaging programs/texting!
