I searched and compared everything from Apple to Zune (A to Z).  I did not want to buy the iPod because I didn't want to be locked into proprietory software.  The only reason I would lean to iPod was the number of great accessories you can get.  But, I really did not want to be locked into getting all of my downloads from iTunes.  I was torn between the Creative Zen and the Samsung P2.  I got the P2 and my husband bought the Zen.  I have been thrilled with my P2.  I use Windows Media player to rip, organize and sync my music.  The Samsung Media Studio is OK, but Media Player works just as well.  (Why use another piece of software).  I can plug it directly into the stereo system in my car with a standard miniplug.  I do have to turn the volume all the way up on the P2 to get good sound from my car stereo or my home stereo.  That is probably my only complaint.  It may be more expensive than the iPod when you are comparing the amount of storage, but it's well worth it.  Love the touch screen capability too!
