I got this phone at the same time I joined up with Virgin Mobile (the best wireless company on the planet). I used it for about a year or so. The phone was absoluetly perfect for what I needed at the time. The size was great, it flipped open and closed very nicely and it was very easy to use. I am a big time texter, and the buttons were slightly raised and rubber, so they were VERY easy to type with. This is not a smartphone by any means, but if that is not something you care about, then this is a perfect phone. If you are looking for a functional phone, that is easy to use, looks great and is very mobile, then this is the phone for you. With Virgin Mobile's pay as you go plans, this phone and the plans can make for a very low cell phone payment each month. The biggest negative I have about this phone is the camera. The quality of pictures that it takes are awful. However, the type of person that would find this phoen useful is not the type of person that needs a nice cell hone camera if you catch my drift.

Okay this is my second phone in as short a time as it gets (my third actual phone) and compared to my last phone, this one is pretty nice. It's a great design, has a lot of the features I was looking for and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Though the longer I have it, the more problems I find with it. I seriously miss the first phone I had, it was the most perfect phone for me. Okay, so here's what I think is wrong with it. Customization options for it are sparce, you can't really download a lot for it from Virgin and if you try and download from someone else you can't. I tried getting some ringtones from another site and all it would do is play the stupid thing. You also don't get a lot of choice for things like the menu backgrounds (two and I didn't see anything from Virgin that you could download more) and I especially hate that the only game I really want to play isn't offered for download on this. I can play a Final Fantasy game on this but not Scrabble? What skewed logic is this? And the camera isn't anything to write home about either. The pictures are blurry and there's no flash for this phone (my first one had one and the pictures weren't bad). So it's an okay phone, but not the best out there, but Virgin really isn't giving me much of a choice for flip phones anymore.

The Samsung Mantra is a good cell phone. I got the Virgin Mobile (I don't know if it is available on other networks) model, which means it can only be used with this carrier. The phone has a good finish (better than expected for its price) and nice design. It is a flip phone and the front is a glossy plastic with a small color lcd screen and the back is rubbery plastic, which works great to avoid slipping. The keys are large and stand out, making them very easy to use, although the lower row isn't as responsive and the keys need a harder push. As far as features, it has a VGA camera which looks pretty bad compared to the megapixel cameras found in most phones, it has a bluetooth module which only works with a headset (no file transfer, no pc sync), and a pretty useless WAP browser. The sound quality and signal reception are decent and I haven't had any complaints in this respect. It is a cheap phone, and if you don't need a fancy phone and want to take advantage of virgin mobile's plans, it is a good starting choice. If you want more features and are willing to pay more, I would suggest taking a look at other models.

If you are looking for a phone and you just need something you can call with and are not really into technology, then this is the right phone for you. It is very simple and easy to use. It is a flip phone that looks black but is actually a very dark green. It has a camera, but no video camera. It doesn't have a micro SD card slot either (like I said, it's simple). It has a microphone slot also. It can record sounds. It has Bluetooth, a calendar, Toneroom (if you use easyedge), Airplane Mode, Shortcut Keys, Spanish setting, Memo Pad, Alarm Clock, Calculator, World Time, etc. It has 15 different ringtones (which isn't that many, and they are not at all nice).You can change the banner, menu style, dialing font size, clock format, theme, and wallpaper. I find that the battery gets low very quickly, and I have to charge it too often. I totally don't recommend it (unless you are thinking of getting a 9-year old a cell phone to get used to).

**The Samsung Mantra is a good basic, phone. It has two screens, one of which can be used as a viewfinder for taking self portraits. It texts, has internet and bluetooth and has a decent camera. Call quality is good. Ringtones sound good and the inside screen is a good size. Photos are a little grainy and you can't zoom while taking pictures. You can only zoom in when viewing photos already taken. I wish you could zoom when taking pictures.** **For my needs and budget this is a very nice phone with some cool features.**
