Samsung - LN26B460 26-inch Flat Panel LCD HDTV —

Bottom-Line: Despite the rather high entry price ($450.99) I have nothing but enthusiasm for the Samsung LN26B460 26" Flat Panel LCD HDTV and I have no problems recommending the set.

Wiring the house with AT&T's U-Verse HD service now means that ALL the rooms with televisions could now benefit from a high definition feed.  So, it was time for the venerable Sony WEGA 24" tube TV in the master bedroom to go; I decided to replace it with a 26" HGTV.  At first I had thought to purchase another Sony BRAVIA, but the model I wanted was not to be found, so I turned instead to the next best make, a Samsung, namely a Samsung LN26B460 Flat Panel LCD HDTV with (3) HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) ports inputs as well High Definition Composite Video, and various audio outputs.

Product Description

The high gloss black finish Samsung LN26B460 Flat Panel LCD HDTV offers up a 26" 1366 x 768 pixels 720p wide-screen 16:9 aspect ratio screen, built-in digital (ATSC) and analog (NTSC) tuners for over-the-air TV broadcasts (antenna required - not included in the box), built-in QAM cable TV tuner capable of receiving  unscrambled programs without a set-top box (cable service required).

My Viewpoint

The picture quality from the Samsung LN26B460 26" Flat Panel LCD HDTV is superb, and on par with our larger 32" Sony BRAVIA and dare I say a tad bit brighter and sharper.  The colors are rich and vibrant, sharp (very sharp) and deeply accented.  And the blacks are indeed black, and adjustable!   I could not be happier with the image quality and features the Samsung LN26B460 26" Flat Panel LCD HDTV brings to the viewing table.  My AT&T U-Verse HD receiver offers 480i, 720p, as well as 1080i resolutions and automatically synced up with my new Samsung.   With (3) HDMI inputs, including one on the left-hand side of the unit, the unit is highly versatile and expansive.  The on-screen menus are many, but they are easy to use; I spend about 10 minutes familiarizing myself with the well laid out controls and I have now mastered them.

I have lived with the Samsung LN26B460 26" Flat Panel LCD HDTV for almost two weeks now and I have to save that I love the set and do not regret my rather (expensive) purchase.  My spouse, who at first was a skeptic, loves the set as well.  The sleek design and black color complements the décor in our bedroom.  The picture can easily be viewed from straight forward and slightly off-center; too far off center however and the image loses a considerable amount of brightness.

Despite the rather high entry price ($450.99) I have nothing but enthusiasm for the Samsung LN26B460 26" Flat Panel LCD HDTV and I have no problems recommending the set.  The set is just the right size for our master bedroom and the sound is adequate for the space in which it sits and it is far better than the tube set it replaced.  All hail HGTV and the Samsung LN26B460 26" Flat Panel LCD HDTV.

I really loved this review and I'm crazy about flat panel LCD television. When my old tube JVC pooped out back in 2003, I bought one of the Sony HD's and I have never regretted it but they were REALLY expensive back then. Sometimes it seems like as time goes by these things get more reasonable.
