You are not doing anything wrong. Apparently, these new front loads have sensors that detect the amount of dirt in a load of laundry (according to salesman). I purchased an LG front load and was quite dismayed that it took almost 2 hours to wash my dogs beds (small dog). I used heavy soil and an extra rinse. Before this I had a Maytag Neptune which died after 8 1/2 years; would cost more to repair than what the machine originally cost ($1000.00) After a week of using the LG I am returning and replacing with the Samsung. They don't make anything to last like they used to. I have researched all machines extensively and have come to the conclusion that it is all a crap shoot and no matter what I buy, it won't last. I am thinking that it may be more realistic to use the quick wash cycle and use very little soap. I checked the cycle time on Maytag, Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, and Electrolux. Electrolux has the shortest cycle times, but how much money is that worth? The others were within a minute or two of each other. Average of about 56 minutes for a normal load (cotton). My advice... customize your wash cycle and save the settings. I certainly agree that the cycle times are way too long. Your time is valuable!
