I purchased this washer 2 years ago and I am not totally thrilled with it.  When we needed a repair it took weeks to find some one in our area that knew how to service it.  It also seems to have a musty smell.  I have tried everything to get rid of that but it still lingers.  It does hold very large loads, and that's a plus.  But if you are considering buying a front loader I would think it over carefully, you will have no cycle to "soak" clothes.  I believe my whites washed cleaner in a top loader because I could fill the tub and let them soak before running the load.

Sorry. The model number my review refers to is WF 306LAW/XAA. This is the washer I have, my mistake. Nothing has been able to remove the yuckie smell from it for more than a few days at a time.

Please remove- comments not germane to specific washer. Must be wrtten by another washer manufacturer

This review is totally misguided... this washer has only been on the market since 2008! The reviewer is likely referring to the wf203anw, which was a more trouble-prone machine.

There are several things you can do to remove the mildew smell and prevent it in the future.
- Don't use liquid detergent or liquid fabric softner. Use powered detergent.
- Make sure you are not doing only cold washes. This causes a lot of detergents not to properly activate the chemical reaction that is needed.
- Wipe the inside gasket clean after each load and leave the door ajar.
- Once a month, run an empty wash with the highest hot water setting with powdered dishwashing detergent instead of laundry detergent. There is something in dishwashing detergent that will help breakdown the enzymes and will clean out any mold that is growing in your washer.

Hope this helps.

One more thing...are you sure you are talking about the WF218A because you said you bought this 2 years ago, but from my understanding this model was introduced in March 2008.
