We searched around a while before deciding on purchasing this refrigerator.  We looked at all the reviews posted online by other consumers that were interested in the same features we were.  This has the external ice and water station, which at the time of purchase, we weren't sure we "really" needed.  Let me tell ya, YES we needed it.  After our last fridge died, we didn't realize how convenient it is to get water and ice from the door! Especially when people come over or our kids are hot and sweaty and looking for a glass of ice.  Who really wants all those germs rooting around in your ice bin?  Ewww!  Not me!  Not much more expensive of an add-on to the cost of the fridge, and oh so worth it!  This particular model also has a top freezer bin just for the door dispenser, making it have twice as much ice when needed.  There are controls on the outside door by the water dispenser to turn off either, none, or both ice machines if you prefer too.  So many features to this fridge we are just so pleased!  Also, one other item to mention.  This fridge has two condensers/fans which means that if one fails, the rest of the fridge won't get warm.  If the freezer condenser dies someday, the fridge will still work until you can get it repaired.  This also helps to keep your electricity bill lower believe it or not, because the freezer doesn't have to work round the clock to keep the fridge cool. Again, I recommend this unit highly, also this is the Platinum finish which matches regular brushed stainless to a T! We have small kids and didn't want another stainless steel fridge and so we opted for the platinum finish.  It matches the rest of our appliances perfectly and there is no color difference at all.  This was purchased at Lowe's.
