Samsung Flight has issues, I recommend buying a refub, if at all

By

from Vancouver, WA

Comments about Samsung Cell Phone:

I really liked this phone at first. I love the touchscreen/keyboard combo. They buttons are small, if you have thick fingers probably not a good choice. Not long after I had the phone the touchscreen became unresponsive. It still works, but not at first touch. More like after 4th poke. As time went on (short time, I have only owned the phone for 4 months) it started reseting itself. It randomly turns itself off and back on whenever, sometimes in the middle of a phone call. Also, if bluetooth is connected it often hangs up on people. If you insist on having this phone, get a refurb and hope that all the little issues are ironed out. My sister bought the same phone about a month later then I got mine. She never uses her bluetooth so don't know if that is a common issues. Her phone also resets itself, often in the middle of conversation and is a little unresponsive on the touch screen. I have tried to recalibrate to attemp to fix the problem. Seems worse online. A pen helps. I use a Nintendo DS pen for online use.

Performance
Touch screen sometimes not responsive, phone restarts on it's own.

Voice Quality
No worse then any other phone.

Battery Life
much better then a smart phone

Durability
cheap casing gets beat up easily.

Ease of Use
it was easy to use when it worked.

Design
the design was good. I like slider phones.

My new Samsung SGH-a797 phone is so far the best I've had.

By

from Doylestown, PA

Comments about Samsung Cell Phone:

I have to say theses days for someone like me, a littlel old school cell phones are pretty new to me. Texting..forget about it, i do text but apparently according to my daughter and her friends there's a shorter way to type things. So I'm learning as i go along. That's why I got this phone, the Samsung-SGH-a797 phone, my daughter and husband said it was a good one for texting beginners like me or even a pro because it's easy to text with. I also quite impressed with the camera, the picture quality is as good as some regualr camers if not better in some cases. I really love how the video has audio as well, my last phone only had video with no sound so it was ahuge plus and I love the video sharing as wll. There are so many great applications on this phone, I'm learning more each day because it's a new phone i I want to actually use the applicaions this time around and it seems so far I have chosen a great one to do it with. Another thing I noticed was the battery seems to hold a charge for a way longer time than any of my other phones. So far I'm really impressed with the Samsung-SGH-a797 phone.

This is a pretty decent phone for the price.......

Comments about Samsung Cell Phone:

I thought that for the price this phone was actually pretty decent. The only problem I had with it, was that if I shut it too quickly it would sometimes shut off by itself. Other then that though it was an awesome phone. I got good picture quality and the videos were excellent! 2 thumbs up to Samsung for creating such an awesome phone!:)

Samsung SGH-a797 is a great phone overall for a great price.

By

from Bellingham, MA

Comments about Samsung Cell Phone:

The Samsung SGH-a797 Flight cellphone by AT&T is a versatile, durable phone. It feels very sleek and natural in the palm of your hands. I think that the touch screen is very easy to read and even easier to use. The big touch screen makes it easy to go through your contacts, pictures, and everything else. Everything can be done with the touch screen, including phone calls and text messages.

The QWERTY keyboard lives up to my expectations on this messanger phone. The keys are a bit smaller than I was used to when I first bought this phone. I have a bit of a hard time trying to put symbols in because of the weird arrangement of keys.

The camera was very disappointing. The camera is 2.0 megapixels and is able to take videos as well. The pictures are of a bad quality and the video is even worse. The videos have to be in a certain format or else you can't send them to anyone.

Overall, this phone is one of the better ones out there. It looks nice, it's easy to use, and it's a good messaging phone. However, the camera could be improved.

The flight may not be a smart phone, but it does look like one!

By

from Grand Coulee, WA

Comments about Samsung Cell Phone:

This phone is high quality for a inexpensive phone, many people had actually thought it was a palm pre! The flight is a bulky, but it has a very large touch screen with a display size of 2.8 inches, resolution of 320x240 pixels, and it supports 262k colors. The screen is a little trouble some it sometimes is a unresponsive. most of the time you will be ending up doubling clicking to get to your destination. Because of this, I'd immensely suggest that you calibrate the flight on a frequent and regular basis. this will minimize some of these issues. Also while talking take caution, it's very easy to touch the mute button. The keyboards buttons are small, this phone isn't really ideal for people with large thumbs, and sometimes if you type to fast, it will lag, or a bunch of random numbers, symbols, and letters will pop up. having the keyboard sound on will hinder fast typing as well. when the phone is closed it gives you two different ways to type, actually to type, and write. You'll be able to type with and old fashioned telephone pad or you can write the actual letters. The flight also has really good battery life, talk time is about three hours and stand by time is fifteen days! If you're looking for a cheap phone with a nice design this one is for you!

        Comments about Samsung Cell Phone:

I have been useing the phone for a while and i love the touch screen and texting pad. but the phone has a few problems like bad internet connection sometimes it wont even be able to connect but this is a common problem had it will my last phone (sony ericson). i have also had problems with the screen lock it unlocks to easly and will unlock wjile in my pocket causing me a few problems. I beleive samsung needs to start using a earphone jack on their phones instead of just the charge/earophone/ect outlit i don't bother puting music on the phone because i can't liston to it. but over all for a 2n't rate phone its pretty damn good.

The Samsung Flight is one of the worst phones I've ever had!

        By

        from Beverly Hills, CA

        Comments about Samsung Cell Phone:

The Samsung SGH-a797 (Flight) is a terrible phone with good features. It's features are great, but the durability of the phone is not so great. Not only does it scratch easily, but the keys do not work often. During the evenings, when it's dark outside, the phone is supposed to have a back-lit keypad, but the keypad lights up on and off, and usually just stops. Also, the touch screen is too sensitive. Whenever I put it in my pocket, it will either butt-dial or go to the internet because the screen is so touch-sensitive. The applications and camera are great, but it doesn't make up for the malfunctions for me. The camera's clarity is great but, I'm disappointed that the pictures and videos can not be saved on the SIM card, but only on the phone. Overall, I would not suggest anyone to get the Samsung Flight, unless they do not mind a lot of malfunctions and love great applications, otherwise people are better off getting another phone.
