Antiquated, even at the time of release.

This was my first "smartphone". While it was a step, overall, this was not such a great phone. Call Quality Lots of dropped calls. Ease of Use Mostly related to Windows Mobile... a horrid and outdated OS for smartphones. Design Keyboard not bad.

I couldn't live without it!

This phone is the best phone I have. I've had it for over a year now and will be eligible for an upgrade in four months and I think I'm going to stick with this phone because I love it. I use the calendar feature a lot and never miss an appointment. I also love it because I can check my email anywhere anytime. I can use the internet also. The phone also has an alarm clock feature that I use everyday instead of my alarm clock. I don't have to worry about power outages and replacing batteries. This phone also takes great pictures and video. It has a USB cable to hook up to my comuter to easily transfer data.

Works pretty well.

A friend gave me a Samsung Blackjack II about a month ago to try.  I have been using the Samsung Blackjack II since then and it has worked well.  The Samsung Blackjack II does not drop calls nearly as much as other phones that I have had experience with.  The Samsung Blackjack II has many great features including a very easy to use built-in keyboard.  It is also great for keeping up with e-mail and keeping my contacts organized.  The camera on the Samsung Blackjack II takes pretty good photos.  The biggest problem is that the camera does not have a flash so you cannot take night shots.  It takes descent inside shots even without any kind of flash.  My friend who gave me the Samsung Blackjack II used the media player on it to listen to audio books, I have used it a little and it works very well.  Another excellent feature of the Samsung Blackjack II is its durability. One thing that you definitely need to be careful of is that you lock the keyboard on the Samsung Blackjack II or you will wind up dialing your contacts or random numbers.

Very good older model cell phone could use more battery life

Bought the Samsung BlackJack II to replace a dead Motorola flip style phone.  I chose the BlackJack II because it was a 'smart phone.'  I have been very pleased with its performance to date.  The phone works flawlessly and I have taken advantage of the MP3, e-mail and web browsing capabilities of this phone. I would recommend a protective cover for this phone to avoid scratches and to help damped any falls.  Without a protective cover, my phone would most likely have been unusable after the first few months.  I am not a person that has to have the current hot cellular phone out there.  I plan to keep this phone as long as it keeps working. The only two negative points that I can find are the slow internet and the battery life.  Even on a 3G network the internet is about equal to a 56K modem.  I don't use the internet on my phone very often so that is not a big concern for me.  Also, the battery lasts less than a day.  I unplug the phone at about 7am and by 10pm the battery is pretty much dead.  I have bought aftermarket batteries with the same problem.  Do not get this phone if you can't charge it everyday.  I would recommend a car charger also to extend the battery life during the day.

Keeps my calendar in check

The Samsung Blackjack II cell phone started out great and then it has been down hill from there. First, there was an internet issue - having a plan with unlimited internet - the phone would not connect about 75% of the time. Eventually the phone had a total melt down and the phone lost everything - phone numbers, calender information, everything. BIG inconvenience. Now the phone will not connect 90% of the time and it has other glitches here and there. I do not recommend it because it is just hassles. On the other side of bad. The buttons are small and you can dial numbers unexpectedly quite often. Overall, not a good choice.

One of the best phones I have used

5

I have owned at least 20 cell phones over the past few years, and this is easily one of the best ones I have ever used. I absolutely hate Windows mobile, though the Blackjack 2 hardware minimizes the problems typically plagued with the operating system due to it's non-touch screen nature. This thing is built very well. I have dropped this a countless number of times, and even had this fall into a puddle for a few minutes and work flawlessly after the fact. The camera and such isn't great, though it takes pretty decent pictures for 2MP. The physical keyboard is great, and is one of the things that I miss most with my iPhone. I used it constantly, and the keyboard keys have never gotten loose or broke. The scrolling works, and is not a gimmick by any means. What Samsung did was not only build a phone around the interface, but successfully eliminated 99% of the problems that typically plague Windows mobile. This is easily the best value I could think of as far as phones are concerned.

Samsung Blackjack is an ok phone.

The Samsung Blackjack cell phone is ok.  I owned it for over a year.  The phone itself was nice, the screen is a decent size, liked the pad for easy texting and messages.  I did not have a service plan with internet so I can not review on how the internet use was on this phone.  I used it for primarly texting, calls, calendar use, and pictures.  It took decent pictures.  The phone was easy to use, seeing as I am not a techie and I could figure it out with out any issues.  Held all data without any problem, such as contacts and calendar info.  The phone is a decent size not too big or small.  Came a few different colors.  A few cons:  no camera flash, and right after my warrantly expired pixels on the screen died and the view on the screen was distorted.  It was very annoying!  Especially since I never dropped my phone, or misused it in any way.  I did not feel this phone was very durable.

my first love!

I have not idea what in the world i would do if i did not have this phone. I depend on it on a daily basis and it has not let me down yet. The phone is very thin, so it can fit into my pocket or purse with out any problems. The service on the phone is also very good and i hardly have any dropped calls. The small buttons can get a little getting used to, especially if you have larger fingers. The camera on the phone is very good and i can take great quality pictures on it. When i need to get things done, i just put it into my organizer on my phone so that i dont need to carry a physical organizer. The internet service is good and learning how to use this camera is easy to do. It is a good idea to buy a case for the phone in order to protect it too.

Not a bad phone

4

It's not as convenient as an iphone but it's a good phone for business. Some things I do not like: it has no 3.5mm headphone jack support, the Blackjack cannot upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5 or 7 so you can't download apps from their new applications store. I am big on applications and so this really bummed me out. Navigation is an issue, for some reason there is only five favorite applications that appear on your desktop, and others require navigating throughout the phone which is a pain. I installed google desktop and that helps search and gmail easier to access. Also, I installed a facebook application that lets me directly upload media files to my account. It's certainly not a bad phone, but if you are a perfectionist and want the latest apps, you might want to shop around.

Perfect first phone for a young professional individual

5

The day I bought this phone the iPhone came out and I had to basically decide between this phone and the iPhone. I chose this phone and I'm very happy I chose this phone. It's a perfect phone (windows applications) for a young working professional looking to upgrade from their simple phone to their first professional smart phone which is perfect for work and play. This phone does everything, Internet surfing, emailing, voice dailing, takes pictures, email, text messages, GPS. Young professionals like me can have their work applications from the office (MS word , MS Excel) and more..linked to their phone too. So if you're a work-a-holic, you don't have to worry about forgetting about important reports you may have left on the computer at work. Your work can be linked to your phone while you're on the go. I've tried a few phones, this is by far the best phone I've found that fits my busy life.
