The Samsung BD-1500 blu ray player has satisfied my basic wants in a blu ray player quite nicely.  It was well within my price range, I paid $187 for the player and four discs, it loads blu ray discs quickly enough that I don't get frustrated, and the picture I get is utterly fantastic.

My only complaint is one that may even apply to all players, I don't know, this is the first I've owned, and the complaint is that it takes longer than I would like to switch between menus and to get to the menu choice I've made.  For example, if I choose Special Features, it spins for a bit, then the screen...

My husband and I originally bought our Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray player in order to participate in the "Watch Instantly" fun at Netflix.  We have come to realize we bought the wrong player.  However, our mishap has turned to something very happy for us! We can still enjoy our large DVD collection and go ahead purchase the new blu-ray discs, as well.  The picture quality has improved greatly.  The sound quality is even better, if that's possible.  Another really neat thing we discovered is that if you own other electronic components by Samsung, you can set the up to work together.  That's pretty...
