the player does have little quirky screw ups and you have to turn it off and back on to get it to work right again.  I've only had it for a year so these little screw ups should not be happening on a fairly new player.  Plus with the price you might as well spring for the 1600 that already comes with the wifi.

First off, you need an HD set to enjoy Blu-Ray.  My dad missed that point, so I'm just making sure it's out there. I love this Blu-Ray Player.  I'll admit, this is my first one, but it works great!  We have a few Blu-Ray DVDs (since most of ours are the standard DVD), and boy is it a difference!  I honestly feel like I am in the theater, the picture is crisp and clear and feels like it's coming to life right before my eyes!  I was a little skeptical at first, but it really does make a difference.  Standard DVDs are fine for 'watching' a flick.  But, to really enjoy a movie, Blu-Ray is the way to go.   Samsung's menu is really easy.  It was really easy to set up.  We were up and running about 30 minutes after opening the box.  We've got it all set up and are just anxiously awaiting which new Blu-Ray DVD we'll purchase next!  Just wish the DVD prices were a little more realistic, it's a little cost prohibitive right now!

We received this BluRay player as a wedding gift and we absolutely love it.  The picture is beautifully crisp and clear, makes you feel as though you are actually in the movie.  I was very surprised at how much it improved the quality of regular dvds.  I expected Blu rays to look good, but the huge improvement of regular dvds was such a wonderful surprise.  The only problem that we had is shortly after we got the bluray player, some of our blurays had a message in the corner throughout the entire movie which read "Bonusview".  This was easily fixed by downloading the latest firmware, and now they all play perfectly.  All in all a great player.  Hooks to our Tv easily through HDMI cables and automatically switches to that input when a movie it put in the player.  I  thought the Bluray player was only going to be appreciated by my husband, but I am very happy to say that I love it too.  I highly recommend this product.

The Samsung BD-P1500 is a decent blu-ray player.  The full 1080P picture is impressive compared to any standard dvd player.  The frame rates are fine.  Video playback is smooth. The video and sound quality of this average blu-ray player will satisfy just about any average consumer.   Blu-ray players typically suffer from slow disc load times and the BD-P1500 is no different.  It's no worse than most other players on the market, but it's no better either. The biggest negative of this unit is it's lack of networking capabilities. The BD-P1500 supports BD-Live via the ethernet port, but nothing else.  BD-Live unlocks "special" blu-ray disc content through the internet.  Personally, I'm not impressed with BD-Live and consider it kind of gimmicky. On the other hand, video streaming is the future.  Any player, such as the BD-P1500, that doesn't have the ability to stream video from internet subscription services such as Netflix and CinemaNow or free media from YouTube will become obsolete very quickly.  Maybe I've been spoiled by competing blu-ray players such as the LG BD370 network blu-ray player, but I'd say that the Samsung BD-P1500 is nothing special.

We got this blue-ray player when we bought our 50" Plasma T.V.  This player paired with our T.V. is amazing.  The picture is absolutely beautiful.  And yes the regular Dvds that we have are upgraded with the player and look just as great.  It was simple to set up.  And my husband connected a Yamaha receiver and Bose speakers to it which makes our living room seem like we are at the movies.  Why go to the movies any more when you have a set up like this?  I recently did a firmware upgrade to it using a thumb drive and the computer.  It was very simple and the on screen menu helped you with the steps.  I would say it took all of about 15 minutes to complete. The 1080 HD picture quality is one of the best.  The colors are amazing.  It sometimes seems like you could reach out and touch the screen and you would be there in the movie.  If would choose a blu-ray player I would definitely choose a Samsung!

My husband and I originally bought our Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray player in order to participate in the "Watch Instantly" fun at Netflix.  We have come to realize we bought the wrong player.  However, our mishap has turned to something very happy for us! We can still enjoy our large DVD collection and go ahead purchase the new blu-ray discs, as well.  The picture quality has improved greatly.  The sound quality is even better, if that's possible.  Another really neat thing we discovered is that if you own other electronic components by Samsung, you can set the up to work together.  That's pretty nifty if you are installing 5 different components to your home theater system.  We purchased our blu-ray player at Wal-Mart.  We were very satisfied with the cost of our blu-ray player.  We certainly feel we got a good deal and would definitely recommend this product to our friends and family.  We are quite like to purchase more Samsung items in the future.
