Samsung 226BW (Black) LCD Monitor Review Summary

Samsung is a late comer to the computer display ball but they offer a suite of monitors that can dance with the big names. One of those units is the Samsung 226BW 22” LCD Monitor. Our community of reviewers has nothing but high praise for this 22” wide-screen darling of a display, with one reviewer proclaiming “I think I may have reached the pinnacle of monitors with this 22" behemoth LCD,” while another stated that “it is an excellent value for the price, and offers several features that aren't found very often until you hit a higher price point.” Samsung equipped the 226BW Wide Screen LCD with both digital and analog (DVI/VGA) connectivity, and the display has a maximum resolution of 1,680 x 1,050 pixels, as well as a 160 degree viewing area. Our reviewers highly recommend this (very) affordable, 22” wide-screen display. When purchasing my computer, I decided against buying a package with an included monitor because I'm exceptionally picky about my monitors. After my computer arrived however, I noticed how startlingly inexpensive new flat panel monitors were, so I decided to purchase a widescreen monitor for my computer. I chose the Samsung SyncMaster 226BW 22" widescreen flat panel monitor because it was reasonably priced at just $319 (or $299 after $20 mail in rebate) and because review after review noted its clarity, its high contrast ratio, and the quality of the product. I had a regular aspect Samsung SyncMaster...

I purchased a computer package from HP, which came with a 17" monitor. Originally I thought to upgrade to a 19", however noticed the reasonable price of this 22" monitor.

I tend to have a lot of windows open, often comparing 2 screens side by side. This monitor allows this easily. It has a very good clarity and resolution, and very natural colors. Pictures look excellent.

I am traditionally a laptop user since I do not like big bulky equipment. The flat panel allows me to have my computer set up on a small corner, without sacrificing space.

I chose this monitor for my DH, who is a big gaming geek, after doing a lot of research. To keep a long review short, it is an excellent value for the price, and offers several features that aren't found very often until you hit a higher price point. DH is very happy with it, and although I'm not a big tech geek, he is to the point that he built his last 3 computers, and won't keep one for more than 2 years.

The Samsung monitor is a good monitor for a pretty decent price. Not a piece of crap like others are. Good contrast, good quality, good clarity.

I'd recommended this monitor to anyone using a single monitor setup, because individually each panel is great and better with the right calibration. Although if you plan on purchasing 2, just hope that you receive two of the SAME panel, and that one panel is not defective so that you'll need a random replacement. So hopefully if you order two, they'll grab them from the same batch, and they'll both be in working order.

The good: Produces deep blacks...

This monitor lives up to the samsung product name. I bought this as a bday present for my boyfirend and he just loved it. When we hooked it up it took us a minute or two to figure out how to turn it on since the buttons are hidden out of view but that is one fo the great features about it. The appearance of the monitor istelf is sleek and flawless and just beatiful. the buttons are hidden underneath the bottom panel so there are not buttons or anything sticking out to interfeere with the look of the monitor. Once we finally got the monitor on and set up we were amazed to see how much better everything... read full review »

This Samsung Widescreen LCD Monitor offers razor-sharp, widescreen image clarity and a host of innovative features. A wider viewing angle and 16.7 million brilliant colors amaze you with clear, life-like images. The 226BW has a remarkable 0.282-mm pixel pitch (distance between pixels), and a 700:1 contrast ratio (DCR 3000:1) for outstanding clarity.

The 226BW features an advanced dual interface for processing both analog and digital signals. It works with all major operating systems (including Microsoft Vista Premium), and the 2ms response time virtually eliminates the "blur" found in 25, 16,...

This monitor looks really good on my desk; it's huge!!! It has good refresh rates and brilliant picture and works well with my graphics card. It's like a TV! I still can't believe how big this thing is!!! I used to have a 15in CRT monitor, but all my games and movies look really good on this LCD, the colors are well defined and it looks even better in the dark!

Hi guys -- I just bought this monitor and am totally convinced that this is the best monitor out there in the market.  Very easy to setup and got it up and working in less than 15 minutes.  Nice display -- does not bother your eyes at all!

The Samsung 19" TV has a horrable picture. From across the room it looks great. However if you get close to the TV the quality gets worse.or if you look at it from the sides. Only way to get a nice picture is sitting directly in front. Over all it sucks,

I purchased the Samsung 226BW LCD Monitor about a year ago, and I had no problems with the unit and think it's a pretty decent monitor.  I needed extra space on my desk and needed to get rid of my old, large monitor and decided to buy an lcd monitor.  This monitor was recommended to me by a friend so I decided to purchase it.  I don't know how much I can really say, it's nice a bright and is perfect for everyday computer use.  There are plenty of buttons that allow you to calibrate it to your heart's content, so you can get it to your exact specifications rather easily.  The only con I can... read full review »
