We are members of Sam's Club and have been for probably 18-20 years. I find that Sam's Club is not a guaranteed best price, but if you know what you are looking for you can trim costs from your family budget. We became business members years back, for our small service retailer that we owned and continue our membership for our personal needs as well.
Things like Charmin Toilet Paper, which my husband will use no other, is not the cheapest product at $7.68 a 12 pack at our local store, at Sam's club they have 36 rolls for $17.98 creating a net savings of $5.06. We only purchase the deals or can only find items at Sam's Club.
However much I enjoy saving a dime or two, sometimes I find Sam's Club far from worth it. They have employees that it would kill to smile or be in a good mood on the evening and weekend shifts. And not just one or two. We generally go in the morning pre-hours for businesses, but occasionally have to come in the off hours to fit our schedules.
Yesterday, reminded me why I dread shopping at Sam's Club. 4 Taste Tester Tables were up and running and each woman was as rude as rude can be. I am not a quite person and I did say hello and try to make small talk, to pull them out of their funks, but it was pointless. Then we arrive at the registers and notice the first clerk giving attitude to a customer, which makes us choose the next register down. This strategic play did not serve us well. Our clerk didn't speak nicely and made us feel like we were in her break period. She didn't even look at me as she slid my receipt to me and mumbled 'have a good day.'
If you can get past poor customer service you can save money. Although, I believe Sam's Club would be better served to fire the rude workers and bring in folks that would be happy to work.
