I really enjoy using my Salton RA3 3-cup Rice Cooker. I think it is the perfect size for my small family. The small kitchen appliance is easy to use. I love that I can add rice and water to the Rice Cooker, turn it on, and know it will make perfect rice for my meals. The rice always comes out perfectly cooked. It seems to be very fool-proof. It is very convenient, which is great for my busy life. I like that it is easy to clean. It does have the tendency to get rice cooked to the bottom of the bowl, but it cleans out easily if left to soak for a bit. Also, it is dishwasher safe, which I think is really great. That just adds to the ease and convenience of this great item. I would like to add that you probably shouldn't use metal utinsils in it, as those tend to scratch up the bowl of the rice cooker.

I had this rice cooker for years and I'm very pleased with the purchase.  I bought it to use in my dorm room during college, and I also used it to steam vegetables, dumplings, pierogies, etc.  The price is very reasonable, and it's a great size for a single college student, and also made the perfect amount for a couple.  My husband and I used this about two or three times a week for about four years before it died on us last month.  I will definitely be getting a new one soon.  Things I really liked about this rice cooker were that the metal pot is removable and can be washed in the dishwasher, the cover stayed cool enough to touch without burning your fingers, and the very simple operation.  I didn't like the consistency it made the rice when I followed the directions, so I played around with the water/rice ratio before finding something that worked for me.  After I started adding more water to get a fluffier rice, I didn't have the problem with rice burning to the bottom of the pot.

Living in the busy world that we do, it is always a priority of mine to find things that save my family time in preparing dinner so that we can all eat together. The Salton Rice Cooker is a good product to use in a pinch, but is not always consistent in its results.  We eat a lot of brown rice at our house, and it is always nice to have it cook on "auto pilot" while I tend to other parts of the meal. However, our Salton Rice cooker is either moody, or I, after 3 yrs. of use, am doing something wrong. It often sticks to the sides of the pan, even if i spray it with cooking spray first, and there are more times than not that the rice seems hard and not thoroughly cooked. There is nothing more unappetizing than rice that is crunchy or sticky. Unfortunately, we can experience both of these things in the same pot of rice. i have made it a goal to get a new rice cooker by Christmas and quit ruining our rice!!!!!

When I first bought the Salton Rice Cooker, I had to be careful measuring the rice in the cup that came with the rice cooker.  The rice cooker can cook up to three cups of cooked rice.  This amount is less then that of most measuring cups.  Additionally, while I cooked the rice in the rice cooker exactly according to the instructions in the instruction manual, the rice still stuck to the bottom of the metal container that you cook the rice in. So, I called the maker of the rice cooker.  I was told that if I should take a cooking spray such as Pam, and to first spray the cooking spray in the container that the rice cooks in, this should greatly reduce the chances of the rice sticking.  Additionally, the customer service representative told me that if I should add a bit more(but not too much more) water then the instructions indicate, that this would make the rice a lot fluffier. Concerning cleaning up the Salton Rice Cooker, I have found that because of the steam that is always coming out of the rice cooker what it is in use, that I should keep a towel or a rag on the counter to wipe up the water from the steam. Concerning cleaning the rice cooker itself, I have found that if a take either a sponge or a towel that is soaked in hot sudsy water, then I will be able to easily clean the metal container that the rice cooks in.  Additionally, the customer service representative told me to never use a metal spoon in the container that the rice cooks in.  The reason for this, I was told is that the metal spoon could easily scratch the container.  I was advised to always use a plastic or a wooden spoon on the inside of this container.

We only use this for our white rice needs, never for veggies of any kind. We eat rice at  least once a week, usually more. This is the perfect, small, easy cooker for us. Doesn't take up too much counter space. The bowl and lid can go into the dishwasher!!! It's last a long time too. We have had this for a few years now and it works just fine. Nothing flashy here!

              This 3-cup rice maker is perfect for a couple or someone on their own. Fill it with            rice and water and forget about it while you're doing other things. It always comes            out perfect after turning itself off, a feature that I love. I don't know how I got along            without it before!

 If you're looking for a cooker that's great for just a couple of cups of rice you've found one, but if you try to overload it you're going to wind up with a bit of a mess when your water overflows from the lid of this Salton RA 3-cup Rice Cooker.

This was what I was looking for when  I needed a rice cooker that wouldn't give me a whole lot of leftovers. It's hard to find small ones, but this one did the job just right! The Salton RA3  3 cup rice cooker is my definite recommendation for someone who hates trying to cook their own rice. This will do it perfectly for you and you won't have to worry about a thing! It works like a true charm!

The Salton 3 cup rice cooker is nice to have, but nothing too exciting.  The rice on the bottom always gets burnt, which isnt exactly what I would want.  It not bad, just not wonderful.  I thought it would be a great help to me in the kitchen, but i still prefer to make rice the way I used to before I got this.  I have a different rice cooker, that is an 8 cup one, it is a much better one.  Much easier to clean and the rice comes out good.  The salton is only ok.

  I have worked for a lady which was moving, and she gave me a rice cooker, which I never owned. So, I tried it and I liked the way my rice turned out perfect. I think this is a nice gadget for the kitchen.  It is a black and decker rice cooker plus. Yes I would try others.                               i
