I was attracted to this particular model because it is slim (as I aspire to be!), sleekly silver, in a rectangular shape with gently curved edges. The enormous 2-inch LCD screen is easier to read than any scale I've ever used before. Even looking down from 5 ft 10 inches high, the numbers are large and the display has a sharp contrast that means I never confuse a "6" with an "8". The wide platform is spacious enough for larger-than-average feet to stand comfortably.
Powered by a lithium battery, the scale has a whopping 400-pound capacity (not that I ever plan to test the limits). When you first use the scale - or anytime you move it - you need to first step on and then step off to allow the unit to calibrate and set itself to 0.0. The unit will display your weight in 0.5-pound increments, and will display the number for several seconds before it turns itself off.
With a lifetime warranty, this Salter Digital Silver Scale may be the only scale I'll ever need. Unless, of course, some enterprising soul invents The-Little-White-Lie scale that miraculously eliminates those last 5 pounds...
