As a long time self manicure and pedicure veteran, I have tried them all. I do use a Sally Hansen top coat, and often use her base coats, but for colors I have to go elsewhere.
This summer I have taken to self pedicures once a week, for some reason I am extremly motivated this summer to have cute toes. I am also experimenting with new colors. I love deep dark colors for my toes, or shocking colors that I would wear on my nails, but usually do not as it can be distracting as I tend to talk with my hands.
So when I saw the pearled swimming pool blue color I decided to try it. I had trouble getting the polish to come out evenly on my nails. I though maybe it was the color, as some colors don't look right until you have a few coats. But it took 3 coats of color for this to look right. I am a patient woman, but with color protecting base coat, a base coat and a top coat that meant my nails would need 6 layers to look good. At any rate, I waited for all 6 coats to dry and was reasonably pleased as my feet did look nice and summery. All was well until the next day when I noticed that my toe nail polish had chipped. I understand why polish chips on fingernails, but on toes! This was madness.
Based on this expience I am leaving this swimming pool blue polish on the shelf. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Extreme Wear is not for me.
