Safety 1st Oven Front Lock Review Summary

When it comes to keeping babies and toddlers safe, Safety 1st is a name many parents recognize and they are also one of the few companies to produce an oven latch, the Safety 1st Oven Front Lock. This lock is designed to fit on the front door of you oven so that little hands can’t open it and get burned. It is attached to the front door with a Scotch brand adhesive and works with a sliding mechanism. Most our reviewers found it reasonable effective, however think that better could be made, but aren’t. RachealsView says, “This lock is effective, but it can be difficult to operate, especially if you've been cooking and have slippery hands.” However other parents found that the adhesive melted off or that their child was able to tear the lock off. The majority found it to be better than nothing and effective at keeping their toddler safe from burns. If you are looking for other ways to keep you baby safe and healthy, read more Health Reviews.

I bought this when my daughter began reaching for the burners and refrigerator.  She had left the oven alone but it was in the aisle at Babies R Us, and a cheap safety gadget that seemed worth installing as a "just in case".  I have not had any problems with the fit, or the  of this.  It is something... review »

NO Burns Baby!
Ovens and fingers should NEVER mix, and if you have curious children (like mine) then it's best to be prepared for their "stove peeking" attempts. Every year (in the US) children ages 4 and under are hospitalized for burn-related injuries. 65% of them suffer from scald burns and 20% suffer...

i found this product when i went in search of something to lock my oven door after discovering my toddler in the kitchen being curious. it has worked wonders. he no longer even tries to open it up. if it weren't for this product, i would have to have eyes in the back of my head.

This lock fit on my stove just fine.  It stuck pretty well- until I turned on the oven to preheat and it melted the adhesive right off.  How is it supposed to protect my kids from burns if it doesn't stay attached?  Don't bother.

One Handed lock/release system. Easy to use. We got one to keep our Almost one year old baby chihuahua in the kitchen while we moved. Unfortunatly she wanted to be with us. Chewed through got out!!! But, it stayed in place!
