Safety 1st Hospital's Choice Ear Thermometer —

Hospital Choice Ear Thermometer
Safety 1st

There are so many choices in thermometers on the market these days.  Between the different name brands and styles, it's hard to make a decision as to what kind you should buy.

Over the years I have found that the digital thermometers that you place under the arm were efficient enough for an occasional use.  When the new "ear" thermometers came out, I wasn't completely sold on them.  I couldn't see how you could get an accurate reading by pointing a thermometer into a child's ear for 3 seconds.

After a while, I noticed my Doctor's office had converted to the the ear thermometer, so I asked the nurse about them.  I was shocked to learn that the ear thermometers are more accurate and take considerable less time (ever try holding a feverish, cranky toddler still while trying to keep the thermometer under her arm?) than the underarm thermometers and decided it was time I bought one.

I've always trusted the Safety 1st brand and found an ear thermometer at my local Target.  Of course, the Hospital Choice Ear Thermometer cost 4 times what the $6.00 underarm thermometer cost but I was gonna give it a whirl.

The Hospital's Choice Ear Thermometer Kit by Safety 1st comes with:

  •  Little plastic covers that you place over the tip of the thermometer and throw away after reading.  These plastic covers are also available in refill packs.
  • Large digital display
  • Memory recall (this comes in handy if you forgot what baby's temp was 4 hours ago)
  • 3 second ear reading - beeps when done
  • Warning beep sound when baby has fever

I really like my Hospital's Choice Ear Thermometer by Safety 1st.    I still have my old underarm thermometers on hand, just in case the battery should need replaced.

I'm confident that the temperature reading that I get is accurate.

Glad you found one that you like--and yes, I know what it's like to be trying to get a temp on a challenging subject. We had the flu last year and it wasn't pretty!
