This was not my favorite Safety product!

I remember these very well from when my kids were little. At first they looked like they would work well. They are easy to figure out and get over a door knob. They latch together. I will say that they are a bit of a pain to use. These do not fit right around some door knobs. Some open easily by pushing in the side buttons and some don't. I found these to be pretty easy to just pull apart. It was so easy that my little one figured it out at a young age. These didn't stay on very long. What is the point of having a safety product that your child can figure out how to get past? These are not as thought out as they possibly could have been. I wouldn't buy these again. Effectiveness They are not very effective. It might work for some kids, but others will figure it out. Sometimes I found it annoying to try to open doors with them on. Safety I don't find these to be very safe when a baby/toddler can come along and just pull it apart and off of the door knob. Durability These are not very durable. They come apart too easily.

Great product!

These have been a lifesaver in our house ever since our oldest, now 3, decided he was big enough to start opening doors. They are great for pesky pets too. Our cats know how to open all of the doors without these door knob protectors on! These door knob covers give us peace of mind so we know that hazardous things are kept away from the kids, and we can have at least one space that is a kid-free zone! Effectiveness These work great. They aren't a deterant from learing how to open other doors, like I had feared. Instead, these door knob covers just keep hazardous things out of reach, and it gives us at least one area that is kids free (the perfect gift hiding spot!) Ease of Use These are super easy to install and take off. I am not very handy, but I child proofed our door knobs with these covers in under 15 minutes. They are easy to use once installed as well. The size of the cover makes sure that only adults can open the door. Safety These door covers definitely give me peace of mind know that the hazardous things are out of reach of my children. They are great for child proofing, especially when you have more than one child! Durability We have had these door knob covers for over a year and they still look brand new. We have them installed on a lot of our high trafficked doors and they are still working great and haven't shown any wear and tear.

Not Good!

1

I give this product a two....effectiveness, safety, and durability are lacking. Very easy to use. But over all very poor product if a 2 year old can still manage to open the doors with this product on the door or manage to get the two pieces apart. NOT SAFE! Effectiveness Not very effective my brainy two year old figured these out 48 hours after purchasing. Ease of Use Super easy to apply...however they are super easy for my toddler to take off as well as figure out that she can still open doors even with these on Safety It took two days max for my two year old to figure these door handles out. No good. Durability We applied these door knob covers on as soon as our 2 year old could open a door. She figured out how to unlatch the pieces and took the one off to her room.

I had no problem with these

These things are so handy. Especially when you live in an apartment at the top of some stairs! Like I did. I bought these desperate to find a way to keep my toddler from opening the door and falling down the stairs. They worked well too. I consider them a lifesaver! Literally!

Good, but not great!

These are effective for keeping my 19 month old son out of places he shouldn't be 90% of the time. However, he has figured out how to grasp the knob of the door, at times, and turn it and get where he's not supposed to go/ Effectiveness For having a 19 month old who figures out nearly every trick we use to keep him out of things, this isn't always effective. My son has been able to get around these and get where he needs to go. Ease of Use For grown ups they are easy to use, and they don't get in your way when you are moving through your house. They are easy to put on and take off. Safety 90% of the time they work great to keep my son safe, but an accomplished child may be able to figure these out. Durability These door knob covers are great quality. I love any of the safety first products because I know I am getting good quality! They don't break and last a long time. I don't think I will need to worry about having to buy more when I have my next child.

Easy to use and great price!

Loved these door knob covers. I put these on before my son was even born to start the preparations for baby proofing. I didn't end up taking down the last one until this last week. Which since he is three they lasted a long time. He had eventually figured out how to get them off on his own when he was two. But even after that I kept them on most of the knobs to just show him that he should not be going in that room or using that door. Very easy for the adult to put on. Worked on almost all of our door knobs. There was only one that it did fit onto but that I was unable to turn because I could not get a good grip on the knob through the holes. They did take some getting used to. But I think that all child safety items do take a while to get used to. I mean I think there are times that we all complain about child safety medicine caps too. The price point on these was super cheap too and available at a lot of stores making them easy to get.

a total pain in the neck

So first, I guess I should say that these things are effective in keeping kids from opening doors. But they are also effective in keeping many adults from opening doors. They are a total pain, you have to grab them jsut right to get it to open. They are also a pain to take off, and you feel like you are going to break the door knob as you pull.

Great product

Once my oldest daughter was tall enough to reach the door knobs in our house, I bought a pack of these. The price was very cheap if I remember correctly. I put them on the bathrooms, the front door, back door and all other places she didn't need to be. I made her very mad by doing so, but it's better to keep your children safe. All you do is put them around the door knob and snap them together. If you want to open the door, you just stick your fingers where the circles are to grab onto the door knob. It's very simple. When my oldest was about three she had already figured them out though.

Serves its purpose, but not always user-friendly

These came into handy greatly when my oldest learned how to turn knobs on doors to open them. We installed this on the doors to our bedroom and the bathrooms and closets. Thus far, they have succeeded in keeping our kids safe and (most of) our personal stuff untarnished my little hands. The only drawback is when you really need to enter a room quickly (like, say, the bathroom), and your dexterity is not where your mind is focusing, they can present a bit of a problem. Also, you should check periodically to make sure that the cover is properly secured.

Safety 1st Grip 'N Twist Door Knob Covers

Safety 1st Grip 'N Twist Door Knob Covers work fairly well at keeping less determined children from opening doors. However, if it is played with too much, or pulled on too hard (by more determined children), they can pretty easily be taken off the door knob. These knob covers are like most child-proof items, in that it can keep more adults out than children. I have had to open the door many times for adult visitors who could not figure out how to open the door with these on the knobs. We use them more as a deterrent than anything. Also, we have them on the inside of rooms to keep our daughter from locking the button lock (she's only 3, and has accidentally shut the door in the past, and button-locked the door on the inside). If you use these knob covers (as with any knob covers), do not believe they are absolutely going to keep your child from opening the door. You still need to teach them the rules they need to follow, and just use knob covers as backup. Ease of Use Fairly easy to install once you know how they work, but a lot of people have difficulty opening the door with them on.
