Safety 1st
Grip 'n Twist
Door Knob Covers
What is it?
The Grip 'n Twist Door Knob Covers are are plastic covers that you place on door knobs to prevent small children from opening the door. These are great for rooms that are dangerous to children, for example - a utility room that contains your furnace, hot water heater, etc. The Grip 'n Twist Door Knob Covers glow in the dark so parents can see them. There are little round circles that give you access to the door knob that makes it's easier to open for adults. These are made for round door knobs.
A 4 pack cost $4.49 at Target.
My Viewpoint!
About 13 years ago, I had bought something similar to these for the protection of my son and either they worked so well that Mom couldn't get the door open or they didn't work at all and my son could get the door open.
In the last decade, Safety 1st has made some changes and I'm very happy with them. I put the Grip 'n Twist Door Knob Covers on two doors in my house. The first is my utility room where our furnace, hot water heater, tools and kitty litter are. I don't want my daughter having access to any of these things. Kids are curious and simply shutting the door doesn't keep them safe. I also placed a Grip 'n Twist Door Knob Cover on my laundry room door because that is where I store all my cleaning supplies and that's where the fuse box is located. Of course, I don't want my children to have access to that area, as well.
Since both of these doors are located in my basement, the fact that the Grip 'n Twist Door Knobs glow in the dark is very convenient, because it's usually dark down there!
I have never had a problem getting the door open with the Grip 'n Twist Door Knob Covers in place. Yes, it does take a couple of seconds longer and I worry about breaking a nail but they do their job and keep my children safe! My daughter can not open the doors with the knobs on but one time after trying REALLY hard, she did use both hands and squeezed like crazy and got it open. Every other time she has tried, she hasn't been able to open the door.
I give the Safety 1st Grip 'n Twist Door Knob Covers 4 stars because my daughter did get it open one time otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.
When keeping your children safe always remember Safety 1st!
