Nope, this is a diaper pail of old days, before things like throwing away a dirty diaper became an event. All you do to operate the Safety 1st Pail is step on the foot pedal and toss the diaper in. No bending, no twisting. And even better...NO SPECIAL BAGS!! You can use an old grocery bag or a small trash bag (I recommend the latter b/c it is bigger and holds more stinky diapers).
How does it combat the smell, you ask?? Well, simple. In the lid of the pail there is a place that holds a stick-up (or something similar) air freshener. We have been using ours for 16 months now and I have had to change the stick-up twice!
Bottom line: Don't waste your money on fancy pails that will frustrate you and only cost you MORE money to buy bags to put in them. The Safety 1st Pail only costs between $9.99 to $14.99!!
Take it from a mom of 4, this is the one that works!
