Sababa Pirateology Deluxe Board Game Review

I saw Sababa Pirateology Deluxe Board Game in the store and thought it looked really great and it does but that's really the only great thing about it...the look.  The board is really cool and the pieces are well designed but game play is pretty boring.  Even my kids asked if we could quit and play something else...never a good thing to hear during a boardgame.  Now my kids just use it for imaginative play.  They set up the board and use the pieces to create their own pirate scenarios.  I was so disappointed.  My kids love anything having to do with pirates and are big boardgame fans but this game just really misses the mark.  It is a bit confusing when trying to follow the directions and even when you get them figured out the pay off just isn't that great.  It's hard to really know when anyone wins, and there's really no excitement at all.  The skull that holds the gold coins is pretty cool and my kids play with those pieces a lot but other than that it never comes off the shelf.  My kids even suggested putting it in a yardsale.
