SUNY at Buffalo Review Summary
Many states offer a large, statewide system of universities and New York is no different. Among the units of its State University of New York system is
SUNY at Buffalo, a large public university. SUNY at Buffalo is liked for its great research opportunities and its great campus and it offers “Great Academics in a Wonderful Setting (If You Like Snow)”. The few concerns voiced about SUNY at Buffalo are its lack of student diversity, lack of well- known sports teams, and less than stellar weather. But even these few complaints do not seem to matter among those who have reviewed SUNY at Buffalo. They still consider it one of the nations’ best
Colleges and Universities and are very happy they made the decision to attend.

I went to UB and LOVED it. Not only did I get a great education that allowed me to take classes outside my major, just so I could learn, but it also allowed me the freedom to choose my own destiny. Cliche, I know. But the school is so huge, that you really do have to do a lot of things for yourself! No one to hold your hand, but also a lot of support and guidence from the staff and faculty. Dispite the overwhelming size of the school, most of my classes were very small. 20 students or less. The only huge classes I had employed several teaching…

It's hard to evaluate an entire college because there are a lot of factors that determine your experience, however, my experience and those of my friends were wonderful. I was part of a rather small department and we seemed like one big family. Every professor I had, in my department and out really made you feel like they cared. There were plenty of opportunities for research and hands-on learning. The dorms were dorms, not great but not horrible. I had the opportunity to live in the on-campus apartments and they were wonderful and convenient. The only cons I would have to say about the…

I went during the early 80's. The school has slid academicially since I went there. When I went the school was rated "Highly Competitive" by Barrons and was the second best school in the SUNY system -- this is no longer the case as it is now classified as "Very Competitive." Too many classes were taught by graduate students who have no business teaching undergrads. Finally, this is one butt ugly campus. I am very dissappointed regarding the direction this school has gone. Whereas many schools are increasing their academic rigor, UB is going decidedly…

I graduated from UB in 1996 with a Master of Arts in Urban Geography. I was able to do my degree part time, and kept my full time job as an urban planner. My experience at UB was wonderful. I was used to a smaller university setting, from my undergrad days - UB seemed huge! But the warm atmosphere in the department was great, and I really enjoyed my time there much better. Excellent professors, they made you work but it was worth it. Having this degree has been a major factor in my getting 2 much better jobs. I highly recommend the school (and snow ain't so…

This is a great school to begin and end your whole college education. The class size is what I would expect and the diversity is excellent. I would recommend this university to anyone that is interseted in variety. The advisors are very helpful and can help you to decide on the best course to take because most of them are former…

SUNY Buffalo is one of the best schools in western New York. Don't confuse this school with Buffalo State University. SUNY Buffalo has a medical school, a law school, an engineering school and so many more majors. They have excellent professors and quality libraries. My daughter attended there for physical…
