SOYJOY - Soy Snack Bars with Dried Fruit Review Summary

SoyJoy is a great concept - a healthy snack bar. Most folks like to snack. Most folks try to eat healthy. This snack bar is soy based so gluten free. That's a plus for many. The snack bar by SoyJoy also has fruits. It's hard to argue with fruits. Unfortunately, many reviewers were turned off by the taste of SoyJoy. One snacker compared the SoyJoy bar to stale fruit cake. Others noted that it was dry and crumbly. The size of the SoyJoy bar was also an issue. SoyJoy bars are about the size of a clothes pen with a high calorie count for a few nibbles. For those who can't eat gluten, this bar may be the best option. It is hard to find snacks sans gluten. Otherwise, there are better snack and energy bars on the market. All in all, consumers were not too thrilled with SoyJoy bars.

SOYJOY Bars

I have Celiac Disease, which prevents me from eating foods with gluten and wheat in it. I found a great deal on the SOYJOY Bars at Rite-Aid a few weeks ago. I purchased a few of these bars to see how I liked them. They are yummy and the best snack bar I've tried that is Gluten-Free. Rite-Aid...

I'm a busy person and I seldom sit down for a full breakfast during the week before work. That leaves me with something from the vending machine or a snack/cereal bar that I bring from home. When I saw the new SoyJoy bars in the supermarket, I decided to try this for a breakfast option. How did I like SoyJoy? Let's just say that I'm glad I don't have a case of these, ok?

The LowDown on SoyJoy

SoyJoy bars contain natural flavor from fruits and soy. It's a healthy snack and if you like soy products, you will probably like this bar. I have seen a lot of advertising for SoyJoy in the past few...

SOYJOY sounded like a good idea. They are snack bars made of soy and dried fruit. I like most snack bars, and I'm fine with soy. I thought I'd probably like SOYJOY bars.

If you want to know what SOYJOY bars taste like, step on a Fig Newton. These taste like compressed Fig Newtons. It's more the bread taste, because the fruit is really skimpy. There's some fruit in there (4 flavors - berry, mango/coconut, raisin/almond, apple). The fruit taste gets lost in the thick soy batter.

You will not suffer long. These SOYJOY bars are a little bigger than a clothes pin. I took a photo, so readers could see...

I tried the apple Soy Joy bar when I was on Weight Watchers and looking for a low-points snack on the go. Nasty.

They are dry, stick to the inside of your mouth, and are hard to swallow. I needed to swish water around in my mouth to get it out of all the nooks and crannies. They are not bland, though. They smell and taste like corrugated cardboard. There are apple flecks, but no apple taste.

I was very disappointed with the Soy Joy bar. It was less expensive than the other bars, but it was also smaller. I would not suggest trying these.

I work at a natural health food store, we carry a lot of gluten free snacks.  We put out samples of snacks, both gluten free and gluten full.  I have nothing against gluten free foods, in fact I really like most of them.  When SoyJoy bars first came out my neighbors came into the store to request them and we soon were carrying them.  They were flying out the door which made me think that they must be good so I didn't try them for a long time.  A couple of months ago the grocery manager gave me some to put out for samples and so I had to try them.  I love samples and working around food all... read full review »

I'm all for trendy healthy snacks... However out of shape I am, I still enjoy enjoy the delusion that cute healthy snacks will kill my sweet, fattening chocolate cravings. So when I saw SoyJoy on the shelf, I thought to myself - "This could be it!" .... Unfortunately, I was horrendously mistaken. My mouth was screaming "Oh my god, what have I done to deserve this!" All kidding aside though, I would NOT reccomend SoyJoy bars to anyone... Not even as payback. They aren't really too low on fat or calories. You're better off eating a piece of fruit with a glass of soymilk. If you enjoy the idea of... read full review »

I like healthy bars. I also like trying new foods out. When I saw and add on soy joy website to try a free bar I signed up. My soy joy bar soon came in the mail. After trying it I am so glad it was free. It was very dry with a sour bite to it. I could not finish the whole bar.

Well - these are not going to hit the spot like a Baby Ruth but if that's what you're looking for go to the candy isle. I think they are perfect. While trying to lose weight but avoid that hunger feeling these are great. So many diet/health bars have that strange aftertaste and are loaded with calories. They are also usually filled with a dense mystery filling and melt if you leave them in a hot car. SoyJoy has 130-140 calories/bar. The bars are small but perfect for a quick pick-me-up or breakfast. They have lots of flavor and texture which are the two things I miss the most when cutting... read full review »

SOYJOY bars are an all natural snackbar imported from Japan. The ingredient list is simple. The raisin almond flavor contains such ingredients as whole soybean powder, butter, almonds, sugar, cheese, frozen eggs, maltodextrin and dried fruits. No hydrogenated oils are used.

I do like that the ingredients are simple and do not take up an enormous amount of space.  For those individuals who should not have products made with gluten, they are gluten free.

On the not so great side... SOYJOY bars are dry and quite small.

I am always looking around online for free samples. I found a sample on walmart.com for a Soyjoy Berry Bar. I thought well I'll give it a try. It's a natural product or so it says and I am not about natural or organic. Before I even bit into it I couldn't stand the smell and it was so dry. Very dry. I bit into it and right away I spit it out. It was awful. My daugher didn't like it either. Just not for us. I always wondered what a SoyJoy bar tastes like and now I know. I see them in the store and they are quite pricey so glad I didn't buy it. Was no joy in it for me. Yuck!!!

I was always seeing the commercials for SoyJoy on TV and thought that it looked like a product I wanted to try.  I'm pretty health-conscious, and am always on the lookout for healthy snacks that didn't take the joy out of snacking.  I was at my friendly neighborhood Walgreen's and saw that SoyJoy was on sale 2 for $1.  I purchased two bars and went on my way.  I soon found out the real reason why they were on sale ...

SoyJoy is no joy at all.  They are packaged attractively - wrapped in foil with bright colors - but once you open the package, the attraction ends.  The bar is small and rectangular...

I was so excited to try this new bar i heard about called Soy Joy.  I love soy products in general & am always searching for a new healthy bar with real ingredients!  Unfortunately, in my opinion, this bar failed the taste test!  As i mentioned, i love soy & eat/drink products containing soy regularly, but the bar i tried had a very unpleasant aftertaste, almost as if the soy was rancid.  I do admit, however that the bar did have a decent ingredient list & seemed to contain real ingredients like nuts, dates, berries etc, in addition to soy protien.

My other complaint is about the texture...

I love all the Soy Joy Bars! They are a little smaller then granola bars. They are dense bars and have friut and or nuts depending on the flavor you pick. They taste natural and are not overly sweet. They are make with soy and lower in calories and so they are healthier. My husband and I often take them with us when we are out and about. They make a great mid morning or mid afternoon snack. It keeps us on track with our dieting and if we have the bars with us we are less likely to get fast food when we begin to get hungry. I really like the apple walnut and the mango the best.I have purchase...

I received a free sample SoyJoy berry bar from walmart.

While I can't complain about anything free, I must say that I will never go out an purchase a SoyJoy bar. It was anything but joyful.

The ingredients list looked normal enough - all stuff I could recognize, like soybean powder, berries and red bean paste.

The bar itself did look like the product pictured on the package - a square log resembling a cookie in texture.

The taste, however, was abhorrent. The flavor was somewhat like a bad health food bar (with distinct raisin overtones) and the texture ranged from woody to gritty. My husband took...
