SBCGlobal (AT&T Yahoo!) Review Summary

If there’s one thing that our members agree on when writing reviews on SBC Global (AT&T Yahoo), it’s that the price is friendly. If you think that low prices mean that you have to sacrifice quality, our reviewers feel that “the service is far above average”. Although this may be true, some feel that search engines are sluggish on AT&T. Others aren’t so comfortable about having to sign a contract. Overall, however, SBC Global (AT& T Yahoo) gets pretty solid reviews. One reviewer sums it up best by saying “the service is not the fastest, but it is good for the price”. Sorry Comcast, but cable internet service slows down as more people in the area start to use it. At full capacity, it's the same speed as DSL. Plus, if you need a boost program, you're not that fast to begin with. All a boost program does is reload a web page in your history faster. New pages will not... read full review »

I've had SBC yahoo DSL for about two years now.  Lately, like in the past couple of months, it's taking for EVER to get connected.  I'll walk away to do something else while it struggles to connect, and ten minutes later still nothing.  I have to disconnect than try again, sometimes two or three... read full review »

For years I plugged along with dial-up, simply because I thought DSL would be too expensive. (DUH!) OK...I kicked myself in the butt.  I will NEVER go back to dial-up.  I'll do without the Internet before I go back to dial-up.

What I really like, as of about a year or so ago, AT&T Yahoo dropped their old anti-virus program from Computer Associates, and went with Norton. (Symantec) This is a MUCH BETTER program!  And it's FREE!

AT&T Yahoo also has a good to excellent "Help" section.  I'd rather use Outlook Express for Email and it shows you how to set it up correctly.  There are many...

This service is very good for the  price, technical help was extremely helpful gave us help setting up the system in more ways than we ever thought we would get help from technical staff, they were also very friendly and pretty much personable over the phone unlike some technical help in some companies, if I were to leave this service for some reason and then return I would certainly pick this company overall, although the service is not the fastest it is good for the price and since my budget is very low this year I am very happy with the basic DSL price they are charging, if you are looking... read full review »

I have nothing good to say about AT&T. When it was SBC, it was great but when AT&T took over it went down hill fast. AT&T was charging me for services that I did not have. I called them and was told it would be taken care of. The next month, the charges would still be on my bill. I made more calls and even wrote the Corp. Office many times. This went on for a year unresolved. I finely turned them in to the BBB. The Corp. Office of AT&T lied to the BBB about several things. AT&T did credit my bill for charging me for services that I did not have. I thought the problem was solved. NOPE, the very...

After years of holding out, I've finally convinced my Aunts and Uncles to upgrade their PC's and abandon dial-up service for something faster.  The best deal in their neighborhood was SBCGlobal, $25 versus $45 for Comcast.  Since day one (two years ago) it's been slow, and it's only gotten slower with time.  I've had their lines tested, and everything is clear.  I recently called SBCGlobal to complain and was given an old-fashioned explanation about "too many cars on the information superhighway" and how "too many people in our neighborhood are on the node."  It's so bad that I have watched...

. . . Reliable DSL 24/7 ... plug-it-in, forget about it.  On a very limited personal income, my non-mobile telephone is discounted and bundled with AT&T DSL for c.$40/mo.  It serves at present a 5-yr.-old Mac mini G4 running OS X 10.4.11.

. . . If I save up for an iPhone, I might keep it locked in with AT&T.  Apple selected a quality company in America, although AT&T limits certain iPhone abilities at present, and Apple may negotiate allowing other providers in 2010.  New video capacity will be valuable for emergencies and amateur news-reporting.  Seems other devices are imitation-Apple,...

This company keeps changing it's prices, you have to sign a yearly contract and when it expires they up the price without telling you so you have to watch your bill constantly. If there was another choice I'd leave this company in the dust! They have no new upgrades or services. When you have a problem your in phone que forever!

Absolutely love the service, no problems. Wish it were a bit cheaper than what I pay as I have the upgraded "Elite" package for faster speed.

I like ATT because the service plan doesn't change. You have a set rate and that's what you pay. Also, the tech support is pretty good too.

We had aol before, and I find that the search engines on AT & T seem more sluggish and slow.  I have had more problems with viruses, and in general load time is longer.   I have also done a search on one search engine and automatically been bumped to another search engine in the middle of the process.   It is kind of frustrating, but I do like the bundled billing and discounts for having our multiple services through them.  I have had real problems accessing our e-mail on AT&T from time to time as well.

Keep in mind that i was a SBC Global customer for over 6 years. We had a phoneline and DSL. The internet service was decent for what were paying for it. But a few weeks ago we decided to try and save money getting rid of our phone line. Basically it would cut our bill in half. In my first conversation with the SBC rep, i was told it would be "no problem" I was told, "Your phone and internet will be shut off on Monday the 4th (of May) Your DSL may be out all day but will up the following day at the latest." She was right about one thing. Both services were disconnected on Monday. But the DSL NEVER...

I have MS, I work from home and on thursday july 9th I called my ISP AT&T for help with an email account in outlook, the tech wanted to connect to my computer remotely but could not, so he had me turn my firewall off, still he could not connect so he told me to turn my virus protection off, I did, and it took about 2 hours of him emailing back and forth to get it straight, when I hung up I turned my firewall back on, but could not turn my virus software back on, I rebooted my computer and SystemSecurity2009 was on my computer, it took over my desktop, and redirects my browser while intermittently...

its adequate service and cheaper than cable modem (i wouldnt do cable unless it was the only horse in this town). the outsourcing for technical calls is annoying and hard to understand. but usually we manage to get the job done. i would take them over some other services. but then i got in with them before they became the new AT&T and became non-customer service oriented.
