Hard working little saw for the price!

5

I have to give this Ryobi Compound Miter Saw a 10. I'm a 68 yr old woman with no construction background. I'm just a DIYer that loves to tear apart and remodel things in my old mobile home. This saw has served me so well and saved me so much work, I honestly don't know what I would do without it! I've added an enclosed carport, cut laminate flooring for my kitchen, hallway and bedroom, done new window trim, mitered crown molding, cut fencing to size for a dog run and I've even used it to cut kindling from dead branches off my citrus trees for my daughter's fire pit. I use it for everything. The only other saw I own is a jigsaw so my Miter saw is used for everything. This particular miter saw isn't big enough to cut 2x6's in one cut but I still cut them turning them around and cutting them on each side. It also cuts through 4x4s without a grunt. It's always been very accurate and the laser lets me know exactly where I'm cutting for precise cuts. The blade is very easy to change, once I figured out which screw it was I had to loosen to move the blade guard. (I marked that thing with a marker cause it's kinda hidden) It took me awhile to find it when I was changing the blade for the first time! Directions weren't real clear. It just says loosen the screw, doesn't say where the screw is nor is it marked that, that is the screw for the blade guard. It doesn't even show that little screw on the page that lists the names of all the parts to the saw. All in all, it's one of the best tools I've ever bought!

the Ryobi 10 in Compound Miter Saw does the job

5

I've been using the Ryobi 10 inch miter saw regularly since 2003. Up till then i had no experience with Ryobi...Ryobi i was clueless. I was adding a room to house and thought a miter saw might be useful. Although i had a sears 10 radial arm saw, i surmized a miter saw might be time saving for framing and could save me the effort of carrying lumber up and down the stair everytime i needed to make a cut. I was impressed from the get go with the efficiency of using miter saw and the performance of the Ryobi. The saw has alway been precise, never required any adjustment or attention of any kind. As a result i went on to purchase a dozen additional Ryobi power tools, especially the + 18 volt line and i'm sure there will be more. There are some short comings with Ryobi. The operator mannuals are very brief at best, standard accesionies can be very hard to come by, non existant and too often they don't seem to adapt to generic or universal accessories. Ryobi is an outstanding tool line but they would be much stronger line if they supported the tools with more options and accesories and designed them to accept universal attachments.

get what you pay for.

I have owned other ryobi power tools and found the quality to be you get what you pay for.  Black and Decker makes comparable miter saws and better accuracy.  The straight and angle cuts are not accurate.  I have used the miter saw for over a year and it seems to be getting worse as far as the accuracy of the cut.  The miter cuts do not line up when you try to assemble them.  The dust collection is a joke but in fairness other miter saws I have owned dust collection is not the most functional.  Having this experience I would not recommend any ryobi product to anybody unless they were looking for a one time tool for a one time job.  If that is the case just buy Harbor Freight.  The quality of the tool is okay and power is fine for the price.  The longevity of the tool has yet to be tested by me, I have only had it for a little over a year.  Ryobi power tools are not the cream of the crop and this miter saw is no exception.  I should of known better than to buy Ryobi but the price was tempting.  I have owned a Ryobi router and cordless drill in the past and to say the least I was not satisfied with the quality or power of either tool.  If your looking for a tool with power and quality spend a little extra and stay with the well known brands like Dewalt, Makita, Bosch, Milwaukee or Porter Cable.  They are worth the extra money if you want the tool to perform and last.

I haven't seen my husband so happy since this purchase.

I recently ordered this saw as a gift and had it sent directly to my husband, I was sick of him borrowing and returning my father in laws. Honestly, the value and the quality are literally top shelf. My husband completed cutting and installing baseboard in a very short time. I have to admit I am a little afraid of all the new projects this will start!!!  I am just going to have to keep my fingers crossed that they get finished as well!   This is my husbands review of this product:  This saw works just like the big ones (for smaller projects, of course), and the ease of transporting this had my dad drooling for his own. This saw has the laser guide for cuts, a dust collector which works surprisingly very well, and a carry handle on the side. Plus, the stand has the locking pin legs...easy and quick to set up. If you're thinking of buying this, don't think about it - just buy it. You will NOT be disappointed!   **Please give me the thumbs up if you enjoyed this review!  Thanks for taking the time to check out my opinions!

Good Miter Saw

4

I like this Ryobi Miter Saw. It is a pleasure to use, and the price is outstanding. I must say that I was quite skeptical due to the price. You get what you pay for more often than not with power tools. However, this product is definitely an exception! I think you get more for your money. Power is good. Cuts and bevels corners with ease. I am a happy camper so far. I am reserving giving it 5 stars due to the fact that durability is questionable with Ryobi products.

A great tool for a great price.

I saw some bookshelves in a store, decided that they were overpriced and I could do the same thing myself for a lot cheaper.  I went looking for the necessary tools and came across the Ryobi 10 inch compound miter saw.  Nothing else could compare to the price point, so I took a chance and bougt one.  I have been extremely pleased so far.  It took me a little bit to figure out how to do the correct miter cuts, but once I bought a protractor and downloaded some miter angle software, I was good to go.  The laser guide is absolutely essential for me and makes the cuts very accurate and easy.  The only downside I have come across so far is that it is extremely loud when making cuts, but with a good set of hearing protection, that is mitigated.  The sawdust collector tends not to catch all that much of the sawdust, but I expected as much and got a small shop vac to handle the mess.  I haven't had any reliability issues and the cuts are always clean and accurate.

Ryobi miter saw -this tool has made life a lot easier.

I bought a 10" Ryobi miter saw some years ago now and I don't know how I ever made it without one. If you work with wood, even just DIY projects, it really should be an essential part of your tool assortment. Reliability is fine - it is built well enough to take on long, cut-intensive projects in the heat of the day and never has any issues. I will say that any saw like this works only as well as its on-site set-up. Getting the lumber balanced and placed securely is the hard part when working alone if you want a great cut. And I would replace the blade it comes with with a slightly larger toothed one for a more aggressive cut.  If you are trying to gather a good assortment of tools but don't want to sacrifice quality or durability, it is what you're looking for. FYI my brother bought a Ryobi table saw right after I got this one and it has served very well for years now with no complaints. I don't know much, honestly, about the brand, but I haven't been let down by any of their power tools (I own a drill also). Few things smell better than fresh sawdust, and the Ryobi makes plenty of it.

Ryobi is durable and inexpensive

The Ryobi 10 inch miter saw is byu far the best miter saw I have ever owned. It has a very powerful electric motor that will drag when cutting hardwoods.  The miter adjustment is smooth and very accurate from 0 to 45 degrees. Ryobi is an inexpensive brand when compared to other name brands but there is no quality loss.  I have had my Ryobi 10 inch miter saw for 8 years now and have been very pleased with it's performance and durability.  I use it and a daily basis for work, not just a weekend warrior, and it has held up with flying colors. I would recommend the Ryobi 10 inch miter saw to anyone from the home handyman to the career craftsman.
