I don't like the Rug Doctor Spot & Stain Remover. It gets rid of carpet stains okay. But it also lightened my carpet on the spot I used it on. I won't use this product again due to it dying my carpet. This is simple to use. It's your usual carpet cleaner, spray it, let it sit, scrub it up. I did just that. It took a little more scrubbing than it does with other cleaners but it did get the stain out of my carpet. This carpet cleaner smells better than any of the other carpet cleaners I have tried. It doesn't have a chemical odor but instead smells pretty fresh and the scent remains after use. The problem with Rug Doctor Spot & Stain Remover is that the day after using it I realized the spot where I used it at was lighter than the rest of the carpet. I have off-white carpet throughout my apartment and I have never had any of the carpet cleaners I've used dye it lighter. It just drives me nuts that there is one circular area that is lighter than the rest of my carpet. I quickly got rid of this carpet cleaner! I do not recommend Rug Doctor Spot & Stain Remover. My main reason is because it dyed my carpet a lighter shade. There are much better cleaners out there that do not change the color of your carpet.

I really loved having this on hand back when we were still working to train our dog and when our son was a young baby (and therefore still prone to spilling, well, just about anything we put on his tray or in his hands). By keeping this spray in the house, I was able to take care of some of those daily stains before they set in. This really helped me to maintain cleanliness without having to drive myself crazy or devote a ton of time - "carpet day" is now a thing of the past, which is such a relief while chasing after a toddler all day! I definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to do spot cleaning for their carpet. It worked wonders. Performance This does such a nice job of taking care of those daily stains before they set in. It really cut down on the time it took to do the big cleaning jobs as well. Scent The scent isn't exactly perfume, but it isn't bad at all. I really like how it smells after it sets.

This cleaner does help remove spots from the carpet, with a little elbow grease of course, it does remove the spots. I also used this as carpet cleaner for a my steam cleaner instead of purchasing carpet cleaner specifically for the steam cleaner, it just seemed to work better. I wouldn't recommend over saturating the area with the cleanser because it seems to make it REALLY clean, so if you plan on using it as a way to just remove certain spots, don't use too much. You will just end up with a bright spot in the carpet that stands out from the rest of it and you will feel the urge to buy fifty bottles of it just to match the spot. Use it lightly evenly over every area that needs attention, and it works really well. It works particularly well on stains that are somewhat new (three days old or less). It does work on old stains as well but you have to spray it and let it set for a little while (twenty minutes or so) and it'll come out. It smells really good, and made the whole room fresh.
