We went to Ruby Tuesday today because I was in the mood for salad and I knew they had a salad bar. I had only been there once before and thought it was decent. It's not a place I'd rave about, but it is a nice place to go to once in awhile just to add some variety to our restaurant choices.
The Salad Bar
This is the item they try to sell the most. It's included in a variety of combos (soup and salad bar, mini burgers and salad bar, etc). You can also get it alone or you can add it on to any meal for $2.99. I did think that $2.99 was a little pricey to be an addition to a meal, especially since my husband who did this only ended up getting one plate of salad. The salad bar was decent and had a lot of options. My mom enjoyed being able to make a salad exactly how she wanted it. I enjoyed being able to get some potato salad, and try some different dressings. I do not think I could live on the Salad bar alone though since there is no soup or fruit or anything else there like Big Boys would have.
The Food
I was really close to getting salmon since they have 2 options now, but I decided to pass since I was already planning to get the salad bar and didn't want to pay $14.99 for salmon that I wasn't going to finish. Instead I got the broccoli cheese soup. It was good, but not the best broccoli cheese soup I've had. My husband got some kind of big messy burger. I only remember that it was messy! But he said, even with the mess, that it was pretty good. My mom got the two mini burgers with the salad bar. The mini burgers looked like the perfect size to give you the best of both worlds - burgers AND salad bar.
There is a variety of other menu items including chicken, shrimp, and steak entrees. However if you want the best bang for your buck you'll probably stick to the burgers and salad bar. The other items are more expensive.
The Atmosphere
It was fairly quiet on this Saturday around 4:30, but they do have a bar so I'm sure that at night it gets more busy. The decor is nothing special as far as I remember. i didn't necessarily like the seating since the tables and booths are pretty close to each other making you feel almost like you are sitting with the other group of people.
Overall
I'm sure I'll go here again but it's not high priority. It's really a place I'd only go if I have a craving for it. I had been here a few years ago and hadn't had a craving for it until today! I did think the menu was a little pricey for the atmosphere. It didn't seem to fit. There are a lot of other restaurants I'd rather visit first, with this just being a once in awhile place for when I want some variety.
