My husband and I bought two of these about two years ago from a web site. One for clean laundry and one for dirty. We live in a two story house and the washer and dryer are on the first floor and the living area is on the second floor. These baskets make it so much easier to bring the laundry up and down. The three handles are a major help. Best part is no more scraped knuckles trying to open the door or coming up the narrow stairs. I have to say I love the Rubbermaid Hip Laundry basket.  I live in an old Victorian home where the laundry room is tin the basement.  I need to climb two flight of stairs and still be able to talk on the phone, hold a cup of coffee or whatever and this basket allows me to do just that.  The initial cost was a little higher than a normal laundry basket, but it has proved it's worth over and over to me.  My basket has to 8 or 9 years old and is still going strong. Single mother of two teenage sons who bought two of these baskets because my laundry is in the basement, my room is on the main floor and my sons' bedrooms are on the second floor. I was looking for a basket that would hold a good amount of laundry and fit through the doorways and be comfortable hauling up two flights of stairs. This basket fit my needs to a "T". I can fit it on my hip and angle through the doorways and corners without any trouble at all! I got my Rubbermade Hip Hugger Laundry Basket at a local discount grocery store for a very, very reasonable price, and I am glad I did.  It is heavy duty, and made very well.  It is large enough to hold alot, but not too large to where it is hard to store when not in use.  I love the grips on the handles.  They do not dig into your hands when you have a heavy load in the basket. My fiance had actually bought one of these when he moved to a new apartment.  He didn't care about the hip hugger aspect but he loved the fact that you can fit a lot of laundry in them and they are quite sturdy.  I loved the large load aspect too and that there are so many hand holds so its easy to find a comfortable way to grip it.  My mother has been using broken laundry baskets for years so I finally bought her a pair of these and she too thinks they are wonderful.  They are a little more expenisve than others but not overly so and they are well worth… read full review »

I have had one of these for over 6 years. It is wonderful to not have to replace my laundry basket! I bought it because of the shape - which I love - I like being able to easily carry it with one hand and have it comfortably conform to my body. But the big bonus - it is still going strong! ALL my other baskets have cracked and broken over the years - either from not being durable enough or from not being the right shape for the way I carried them. I needed a new laundry basket because my old one cracked from overuse. I went to Target to buy a cheap replacement, then decided to upgrade to the hip hugger. Now, I wish my OTHER basket would crack so I could buy another hip hugger basket. I have trouble with pain in my neck and shoulders, and the large loads of laundry in the "old style" basket are uncomfortable for me to carry. The hip hugger solves those issues. I love this basket. I have been using these hip hugger baskets for over five years and they are as tough and sturdy as the day I bought them. I carry my laundry up and down three flights of stairs and am in the habit of dropping the baskets down pretty hard. I have tried many different styles, from wicker to plastic over the years but none compare to the durability of these rubbermaid baskets.
